You've done a great job. I have done about the same. I was banded April 8, 2008 and have gone from 274 to 187 since that time. I regained about 10 of those pounds and then stayed still for a while. I got a fill for the first time in a very long time and had to work really hard at finding the answers. Because of discomfort that did not go away I had to contact my doc over the weekend. He told me to go back to liquids for 4-5 days with us both not minding and sort of secretly hoping that I'll lose a BUNCH of weight during that time.

I'm also back in the gym doing cardio and weight training

If you lost 100 in a few months, I am sure you will do fantastic once again. Stay in touch and maybe we can motivate each other.

Hi ladies, I am so glad I found both of you, I am down 52 pounds since surgery in july '09. In Feb it was 59... I have been at a stand still since December. Probably due to the fact that I eat whatever I want just in smaller portions. I am really needing to lose 30 more pounds, but it is So hard. Anyway, I am happy I found this thread and hopefully we can encourage each other, and re-learn what made us so successful in the beginning. God Bless!

wow! I'm so happy to find others in the same spot! What can we do to help each other out? I had surgery in August 07, and went from 286 to 189, but am back up to 200, which I've hovered around for the last year or so. I realize now that it's not the band (it works great) or a matter of learning what to eat (I choose poorly, even though I know better), and I'm very active (jogging, walking, hitting the gym).

It's my head that's the problem. My inner teenager is rebelling like crazy!! I KNOW I'm full, I KNOW what to eat, and I KNOW I'll be miserable if I push it too far (gassy, bloaty, even some chest pain from overstretching my pouch). Yet, I do it, and it literally feels like I'm doing it out of spite. Argh! Obviously, the emotional side is the issue for me now.

What do you all think about working on a plan together? Suggestions?

Whew it's not just me. What you wrote is me to a T right now. I was banded in June of 07 and lost 100 pounds over the course of 2 and half years and then had a band slippage occur. I gained back 20 pounds and I know the reason is because my inner rebelling "teenager" (good descrip) wants what it wants even though I know better.

I've recently gone back to have my second fill since the slippage and I'm ready to start being a "loser" again.

My husband and I started jogging while the band had to be loosened to fix the slip. We started the couch to 5k routine to get us up to speed and we're up to running a full 5k My hope now is to get back on the proper eating wagon, find the sweet spot, and keep truckin' with the jogging and toning.

When I saw my doc on Monday he lectured about the snacking and bad food choices and pushed the Protein shakes. So for me it's about minding those rules again and addressing this emotional teenager. :cursing:

What do you do with the "teenager"?

I think that "grounding" that inner rebellious teenager would be appropriate. LOL. Take away some privileges and send her to her room...

Seriously, it is tough to get back on the wagon. I hear the 5 day pouch test is very helpful.

Good luck!!

Great suggestions Bella! I'd never heard of the 5 day pouch diet and now that I've researched it I am going to give it a try and see if I can jump start the loss again!

I've also found a suitable corner for the teenager to stand.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
