NOTHING will go down after Flu!

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since June of 2008 and have lost a little over 100 lbs. My current weight is 151 so I am very happy with my band. But here is my problem: In September I was too tight so I got an unfill... I have been extremely happy with the amount taken out but recently I got the flu and had alot of chest congestion which made me swallow phlegm which caused me to slime and throw up more than normal esp in the middle of the night (I know gross right?!) and now NOTHING will go down not even liquids... do I need another unfill or will it go back to the way it was before? I have lost like 15 lbs in the last 3 weeks waiting for my band to go back to the way it was! I have a dr appt wednesday to get an unfill but Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks!

It's definately time to see the doctor. I wouldn't be surprised if you got a complete unfill. You have done fabulous. I was banded about the same time and haven't done as well. But saying that I am so glad that I did the band. I love that it keeps me in check and if I'm good the scale goes down. The food choices and exercises choices are mine I just need to make better ones. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
