New here! And beyond grateful!

It's wonderful to a)have found this site, and b)find out I'm not alone in this journey!

I don't have a date yet for my surgery, but am working on the latter part of April. I share all the excited and scared (out of my gourd, if I'm honest) feelings. You know what I'm most scared of? How I self-sabotage!

Gonna need support, yes I am, and I'm good at giving it (I'm a nurse and a psychotherapist). Here, I just want to be me...

Welcome to the madhouse Anne!

You definitely are not alone here. The people on this site are great and basically, 95% of my support network.

Good luck!

BT, thanks for your response. I was beginning to run my "rejected" number (which I'm sure none of the rest of us have- ha!) and you answered! Whee! I see you a lot on this board, and you have good stuff to share and offer. Thanks! Looking forward to the journey together...

Thanks for the kind words!

A lot of people, myself included don't have a lot of time to keep up with the forums on work days.

If a post gets lost amongst the others and you don't get a response, it can be frustrating but please don't feel rejected or like you're being ignored. Sometimes you have to repost or reply to yourself in order for the posts to be seen.

Keep your head up, a positive attitude is a far more powerful tool than a lapband.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
