I have a 14cc band, and I was wondering how many cc's it takes for most people to reach their sweet spot. Will I be getting fills forever?

I used to have a 4cc band and needed a revision because of a dilated pouch. They put the 14cc band in me because of the possibility of scar tissue and now I don't have reliable restriction with a full band. I hear they can over fill it though.

I voted for 7cc because that's what I have now, after my third fill. While I definitely feel restriction now, I think it'll take one more fill to be at my sweet spot. Doctor said he may take me up to 8cc next time, so we'll see!

I am at 6.5 now, and I can feel some restriction. I am hoping my next fill will be the one!

I'll be following this thread closely. I have a new 14 cc band and will be getting my first fill on 5/26. I was surprised to find out that it will be done at the hospital and not by my surgeon or his staff at their office.

I was at 8cc for a month, I didn't notice big difference or I got used to it. Granted I have had my band for a while so yes I;m eating alot less than I was but I was eating more than I should've. Then we 8.5 no change t me at all. June 11, 2010 He gave me 1cc more, wow did that make a big difference. I'm eating very small amounts and have lost 6lbs already. I think this is a good place but I'm still fa from finish line.

I wish my Dr. would do every fill under fluroscopy. I have had a fill every month since Oct. and 1 unfill. I was banded in Sept. and have only lost 30 pounds. I feel like a failure! I now have 8.5 cc's in my 14 cc band. Had a fill over a week ago and do not see any difference. I need to call, because they said if this didn't do the trick they will schedule a fluroscopy.

Does your Dr. measure what you have in before they add more? Mine has only done that once. :smile2:

Had my 2nd fill yesterday. The original 6.5 cc was measured and removed from my band and 8 cc was added. I'm very sore today and still doing liquids. Am hoping that I get decent restriction since I did not at 6.5.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
