almost ready for my banding but i have a cough

Recommended Posts

i have been following my insurance company's doctor supervised weight loss program for over 6 months now. last tuesday, all the required papers were sent to the insurance company, and if all goes well i will be approved in the next 2 weeks. i have developed some asthma problem with a cough and am really worried that this will push everything back. i took antibiotics and am on breathing treatments etc. but nothing seems to be working. my doctor won't give me prednisone since it could elevate my glucose but i am getting desperate to get rid of this cough. after all these months of preparation i hate to be stopped now.

How about Advair? I've found that works just as well as prednisone when I'm having trouble.

Your still waiting for insurance approval right? My surgery was scheduled aver a month after my insurance approval due to the surgeon's and hospitals schedules. My point is you may still have time to try different treatments with your doctor before your surgery. It can be disheartening to come this far only to have to wait longer. I almost had the same problem as I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis during the time I was completing all the pre-op stuff and some doctors will not do a band if you have RA. Fortunately, my doc wasn't one of them. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
