Still in investigation stage

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here. I'm just in the beginning process of attending seminars at 2 or 3 locations. I've been to one and will be attending my 2nd tomorrow night. The one I think I'm going to like the best is the 3rd one but it's about 1 to 1.5 hrs away. Has anyone traveled that far for the surgery and all the followup appts? Did you find that it worked out OK or is it best to stay closer to home? Looking forward to my membership here. Thanks

I know people who have to FLY to their follow up appointments because driving takes 8+ hours and there are no local band surgeons and no follow up care. It's doable, and I think you should go with the practice where you feel most comfortable. Check out Gen's blog for an example of someone who has to travel far for follow up care: i heart the band

My Dr. is about an hour away. It's not that bad with a little planning. Definitely choose the surgeon you feel most comfortable with, even if you have to drive a bit further!

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
