Sudden addition to peanut butter ? ? ?

Recommended Posts

I was banded Jan. 12 and had my first fill on Feb. 26 . . . so far, so good, but just before getting a fill, at night, I cannot stay away from Peanut Butter (and I don't mean a tsp or two). It's a terrible craving. . . anybody else have this weird thing going on, or with some other type of food? Can't understand . . . maybe I'm not getting enough Protein with my meals???

NO. NO. NO stop doing it!! I know what your talking about. This is a slider food... It's sweet, sticky and oh so yummy. But high in fat, fat, fat. It's okay in Portion Control but if your eating to much and have no control you need to step away fast!! Easier said than done but I too had this problem with Peanut Butter it's a trigger food for me and I avoid it now. If I don't I'll eat it in heaping spoon fulls and gain. Do your best to get rid of it today!!!

OMG i love Peanut Butter can't get enough of it but LiveLoveLaugh is right put the spoon down. There is 190 calories in just 2 tbs of pb. So if you are eating several tbs you are getting hundreds of calories. I always have PB in the house because the kids love their sandwichs so if i am graving it i alot enough calories out of my day to have one tbs. I messure it out and lick it off the spoon really slowly and that will end my craving. I also buy the smuckers uncrustables for my kids (they are little PB and j sandwichs in the freezer section) they are only 210 calories and i will have one for my Breakfast or lunch and they are so yummy.

Thanks to all of you who posted about the "all of a sudden, can't get enough" thing with Peanut Butter. As soon as I finish this message, I'm going to throw away what's left, so it won't be here calling my name so loudly. I appreciate all your comments about stuff I just never thought beomg a problem . . . sliders . . . I know I can't have ice cream in the house because it would be the super slider of all time. You've helped me a lot! :(

Nah, it's not that. PB isn't terribly high in Protein. It IS very high in fat--and I'd guess that you're just plain hungry. It does taste good, and it does stick with you, but it's not a great choice for weight loss.

What are you eating during the day? Are you getting adequate solid protein?

Instead of eating Peanut Butter I eat honey roasted peanuts one at a time and savor each one. I feel I eat less since I am chewing and eating them one at a time. I am preband so don't know if I will be able to do it after.

Boy am I glad I came across this thread. I thought I was doing really good about putting a little bit of Peanut Butter in my choc Protein Shake or my oatmeal, to add a little more Protein and flavor. It never even dawned on me that it could be a trigger food. No more for me. Thanks for the wake up call everyone.

Good LORD me too!!!:) I started drinking Bariwise's Tropical banana Protein and I mix it with a generic vanilla whey protein (total 30 grams of protein) I usually mix it with non fat milk, but today I mixed it with Almond vanilla milk--YUMMY!:)

Add a few ice cubes and a Tablespoon of Peanut Butter and OMG... it reminds me of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream :sneaky:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
