I had my fourth fill on the 10th. All was fine and I ate a full chicken breast and mashed potato on the 14th and felt just fine. Since the 15th though, every bite I have put into my mouth I have thrown up. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat, it comes back up after the first bite. I can get all the liquids down I want (although not with food because it just makes me throw up all the faster). Last night, I managed to get down about a cup of mashed potato and some meat loaf. I was stunned that it went down and stayed down. Today, back to one bite and puking. What's going on?!? I've always been a very slow eater, so that's not the problem, and I'm eating suitable foods. The only thing I can think of is that I'm just a little too tight, but then why was I able to get down more than a cup and a half of food the two times I managed to keep something down?

I had a too tight question today too - though I haven't thrown up, it was the first day that I could only eat 5-6 bites of scrambled eggs with onions/peppers/ham this morning. I was not hungry for the rest of the day, and made a meal for everyone and was really scared to try to eat, but so far I've had 4 bites of rare sirloin and so far it's ok (though I don't swallow the whole bite, my dogs are very happy - any grizzle or fat and they get a treat).

I was coughing a little this afternoon, and last time I got a fill (on the 11th) my doc asked if I was coughing at night...and it would be a sign of being too tight...anyone had this happen?

If I could get down 5-6 bites and then not be hungry for the rest of the day, I'd be happy. My problem is that I can barely get anything down but I'm freakin' hungry!

I'm worried about not getting enough Protein though...cause I've had some issues with not losing if I don't get enough. I just want to start losing again.

This tends to happen after a few days of your fill. You get a stuck experience and then your band gets enflamed and you get tighter. You have to go on all liquids for a day or two and then some mushies so as to give the enflamation time to go down. I am way to tight right now and i feel my liquids gettng stuck and they go down way to slow. I am also alittle concerned but i am going to stay on a liquid diet for a couple of days and we'll see what happens. well good luck

It's my experience that each fill is different, and some you feel right away and some 2-3 wks later. Everyone is different, but you have to be sure you can at least get the fluids down to stay hydrated until you decide it's too tight. You prob. need to call your MD.

Oni,

Sometimes there's a delayed reaction with the swelling after a fill. Sometimes we just irritate it with something we've eaten. If you're having a hard time getting things down, assuming you can drink your Water with no problem, then I'd go back to Protein shakes and 'soft' foods (yoghurt, etc.) for a couple days and let it calm down.

Then when you go back to eating, take small bites, chew well and eat slowly. Pay attention to the foods that give you trouble.

Since my last fill I can't eat chicken anymore unless I cut it up in teeny little pieces (much like you'd do for a toddler) and then chew each one to mush. I've also learned that the chicken has to have something on it to moisten it or it doesn't matter how small or how well I chew. It will get stuck. It's such a hassle that I pretty much avoid chicken these days.

.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
