I was banded on January 18th. I was a Diet Mt. dew junkie and am missing my Dew badly. I am trying to behave but cannot stand plain Water and Crystal Lite is not my favorite either. I have discovered Powerade zero. It has no calories and I can drink 2-3 a day.

Is this as good as drinking water (or close)? It tastes so good.

Any thoughts?

I dont see why it would be an issue -

no calories, no sugar.. i would say it is just as good plus it has electrolytes what will help keep you hydrated.

I have replaced my diet coke with Costco's KIirkland brand Vita-Rain (flavored Vitamin water). Zero cals/sugars/carbs plus it has Vitamins too boot!! Not really missing soda at this point.

Oh gosh Vita-Rain. I sooo bought some of that and it was really good. I was drinking about two a day of them. All of a sudden I was having a really hard time sleeping, I couldn't fall asleep or stay asleep and I couldn't figure out why. Then it dawned on me, the Vita-rain. I checked the bottle, and I'll be darn that stuff has caffiene in it. I have never been good at handling caffeine. Anyway, it's good just be careful if your like me and caffeine LOL

My Doc actually suggested the Powerade. I think it is great that you found something you like and fits in the plan.

I am totally adicted to the Powerade 0 grape flavor. I also love the Sobe 0, black and blueberry as well as yumberry pomegranite are my fav's, but I tried the fuji apple pear yesterday and it was really good as well. I didn't care for the strawberry kiwi though, but I have never liked strawberry kiwi flavored things too much. A bowl of strawberries and kiwi slices sure, but the mixture as a flavor doesn't work for me!

minute maid lite lemonade. 5 calories. Tastes great.

I just found this last week. I like the fact that when we go somewhere and pack a cooler, I can drink something from a can instead of always having to pack Water. LOVE IT!

I was a diet coke junkie before banding but was surprised to not crave it at all after surgery. I am slowly learning to like Water, but I went through all the other Vitamin waters, Powerade, etc and liked them all for awhile. Now I only like Lipton Diet Green tea. I buy the Kirkland brand too. It is a little different than the Lipton but still good. I am still working on the water though and am surprising myself how much I am actually liking it...... Cheers!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
