My surgeon has a no soda policy, which I have had no problem with since pre-surgery... The last 3 days I have been CRAVING a full calorie, cold, coke or pepsi, the kind from a fountain, though a can would do. UGH. Won't cave, but does anyone have a suggestion? I think it is the syrupy sweetness and not the carbonation so much that I want.

No suggestion but I will keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone else has one! I do know if I get a sweet tooth I can eat a bit of low sugar Peanut Butter and the sweet tooth passes.

Soda is a downfall for many people. I switched to diet a long time ago. I am missing a fountain diet coke myself. Just think of all the sugar in your coke and how it will affect your weightloss. I am sure when you consider the consequences you will see it's just not worth it.

I won't have it at all and have not since August and have not really missed it. Want it with certain foods once in a while, but really was craving it A LOT the past few days. I wonder why?

my doctor actually told me at my support group Christmas party that I could have diet pepsi again. He said I had to drink it very slow so as not to have the carbon hit be full blast. And to tell the truth, it has resolved my ongoing problems with Constipation. I do find that I don't drink it as often as I used to but an occasional diet pepsi has worked out really well.

What I love is Light Hawaiian Punch. It comes in a can and can be found in the soda section but it is non-carbonated and is only 10 calories per can. I drink it in a glass with crushed ice and it's like having a slushie and replaces my craving for a soda. Give it a try.

A former coworker who had gastric bypass found that an occasional Mountain Dew Slurpee from 7-11 took care of her pop cravings. Maybe a Coke flavored one will work for you?

She'd get a small one and almost never finished it. I haven't seen her in a few years, but from what I know she is still maintaining her 185 lb loss.

Good luck!

I imagine the slurpee doesn't ahve all those bubbles but man, it would have tons of sugar! Not sure my body could handle that! haha

LOL! I agree with you completely! I have a terrible sweet tooth and haven't even been banded yet, but Slurpees have never, ever appealed to me. I think the last time I had one I was about 7 years old (which, believe me, wasn't yesterday.)

I havent done "real" soda in years-- switched to diet coke long ago... but for a while I was craving a diet coke so bad-- so I got an iced cold diet coke out.... and poured it in a glass and let it sit in the refrig until most if not all of the carbination was out of it... then I sipped on it.. to my surprise-- while drinking it-- my "head" thought I wanted that-- I found it WAY TOO sweet and barely drank any of it- and cured the craving real quick... maybe this will help for you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
