I was torn between lapband surgery and a gastric bypass. Even though I a, considered morbidly obese the gastric bypass made me nervous because of the malabsorption. After a lot of thought and prayer, I figured since I was seeing military doctors I went to my surgical consultation with the thought that whatever the surgeon thought was best for me is what I would go with. Ironically, the surgeon I happened to see that day only performed lapbands. I considered it a sign and less than a week later I had my lapband installed! Even though that sounds like it happened extremely fast I had actually started this process back in 2007 and was denied by Tricare for having the surgey. Luckily, I did not have to go through Tricare this time and was able to get the tool I needed to help me!
