I'm about 3 weeks post op and one day this week I swallowed a soft piece of cheese *laughing cow low fat* which is on my list of things i can have. It may have been too much or i didn't break it down very well and it felt like it got stuck which, I've eaten things that are more firm than that and not had a problem. It hurt really bad and I sipped on Water to get it to go down. Once I got it to go down I didn't think much of it till a few days later it happened again but hurt so much worse. Since then every time I eat I feel it to some degree if I've not chewed it overly well. liquids are no problem at all. I've read all sorts of horror stories of things it "could" be and I don't want to work myself up.

I am calling my doctor in the morning for sure but have any of you had this and has it turned out to be something serious? Or could it possibly be I just irritated it? It hurts really bad feels like it's just really stuck and not going to go through and it hurts in my chest.

I knew from the start this wasn't going to be roses but ugh I'm feeling really scared this may be just the beginning of other things to come. I've been pretty up beat and positive about my banding experience and would like to keep it that way but I guess I'm having a down moment.

I forgot to mention that after it happened last night I woke up this morning with a tight feeling in my chest and a bit of a sore throat. *reflux?

I feel afraid to eat anything too much more solid than pudding right now. My menu is pretty liberal from my doctor for this stage.

sounds like it may be irritated and swollen. dosen't sound like a slipped band or anything too serious. I would definitely approach it with your doctor. Most recommend sticking to liquids for a few days if you have a major "stuck" episode.

About 3 weeks post op I had a similar situation. I ate something that got stuck and it took me a few days before I could get solid food down again. I ended up going back to liquids for a day and then the following day things went back to normal. It would be a good idea for you to call your doc on monday(or tuesday if he is closed). Just to get his take on it. He has way more experience then I have. Don't get to stressed about it. Stress can make your band tighter too. Good luck.

thank you both of you...I hope it's that too and I'm sticking to the liquid for now and will call my doctor tomorrow. I think I am tending to have newbie jitters and prob will for a while.

Thank you for calming down...

After a "stuck" episode you're supposed to do liquids for 24 hours. Perhaps, as the others said, you should do liquids for a couple of days. Call your doctor anyway. Take care.

Clear Liquids (Water, broth, clear Protein shots, herbal tea) would be the best for just a day to let the irritation/swelling go down. And, try to drink as much as you can. I find that when I'm dehydrated, my band feels tighter and stuff doesn't go down as easily.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
