soreness on left side

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded 10/18/05 and did very well following the lab-band diet until the day after Halloween. I started eating one reese and then another, they were bite size so at the time i felt it wasn't so bad, then i ate a bite size snickers, and another - i also ate a bite size twix. I felt so full when I was done that I thought I was going to pop. I went to bed and when I woke up this morning I feel sore on the left side. Tomorrow is my first followup visit after the surgery. I hope I didn't do any damage. The good thing is that when I was banded I was at 240 and today I'm at 224.5.

I'm a little worried about being sore though. Did anyone else experience soreness after cheating:( ?

Can you have "regular" food now? I was banded on the 20th of Oct. and I am still in the mushy stage. I am not suppose to add regular (solids) food in until the 16th of this month. Just wondering what your doctor has set for you. I know candy bars are not a good thing to be eating as far as nutrition and calories (which I am sure you know) but I would also say that because you are still in the healing stage you should not be eating solids either. Hope this doesn't sound like a lecture because that is not my intent..LOL

It seems that every surgeon has a different post-surgery diet. I was only on mushies for about a week and then started on solid foods. You just have to introduce one new thing at a time. But, as long as you're already on solid foods, you should be able to eat candy - - just don't over-do it next time. Eat ONE piece!!

As far as your morning pain is concerned, it may have been that you ate the candy late at night and then went to bed. You didn't give your new stomach enough time to digest the candy so when you woke up, your band was tight and caused some discomfort.

Just make sure you discuss all of this with your doctor tomorrow.

Thanks for your advice, when I went to the doctor the next day he said it was because I ate solid food too early and to late in the evening and that is why I felt the soreness. Now everything is okay and I am find. I've learned by lesson. I asked the kids to take out the candy they wanted and we through out the rest so temtation is not in the house.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
