My wife just called me at work to tell me she found a couple pair of my old jeans in the bottom of a drawer. She left them out for me to try on when I get home. I'm excited and nervous, all my pants now are falling off and I dont want to buy anything new yet.

I know how you feel! I put off trying on my smaller jeans b/c I was afraid they would be too tight and then I would get down! Even though the jeans I was wearing were falling off. However, I am glad I tried them on when I did b/c they were a little loose. I am still wearing them but they are getting bigger and bigger. I am trying to make them last as long as possible b/c they are the smallest ones I have and I hate to buy new ones. Congratulations on the weight loss!

Thank you very much. Yea I'm really hoping I can stretch out some older clothes that I haven't fit into in awhile rather then run out and buy new stuff everytime things start getting too loose.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. If they don't fit yet, they will soon!!!

Luckily, I still had plenty of clothes from the last time (about 2 years ago) when I was "skinny". AND every size in between.... lol

Hopefully, the band will help me keep the weight off this time!!!

I am down 42.5 pounds and did my first closet clean out. Found a couple pairs of pants that fit pretty good. I too, have quite a few sizes in my closet. Trying to buy as little as possible until I reach my goal.

I am not down a jean size yet...but they are baggy. However I was at work yesterday (thank God I had pants on and not a skirt or anything) and my underweat kept falling down :crying:!! Obviously not the whole way down cause of the jeans I had on, but had to keep hiding to pull them up :scared2:.

I had a closet full of different sizes. Somethings even still had tags. What was so funny is....I dropped so fast I never got to wear them! So I took them to a consignment store. Great way to finance my new "skinny" wardrobe!

Shortly before my PCP suggested I get the band, I cleaned out my closet because I had convinced myself that I would just die a fat old lady. I gave them all away to a needier person than I. THEN I GOT THE BAND! I am changing sizes faster than I thought I would but lucky for me my SIL is on WW and she is losing also. She keeps bringing me her clothes as she comes out of them. The only things I have had to buy is underwear and shoes. I didn't realize that I had changed a whole size of shoes. I thought I had just stretched them out. So, I got two new pairs on Monday and they will have to do for awhile. Thank goodness I'm retired and don't require a lot of shoes or clothing.

I have been saving my skinny clothes for so long that when I got a pair of black slacks out of my closet to wear them they had a band of dust on the leg where they were bent over the hanger.

LollyMOe,

I did the same thing, I had a tag sale over the summer and probably made $20 on the skinny clothes I thought I would never wear again pre band.

I buy most of my clothes now at Kohls in the clearance section. I am not buying the "good" clothes until I get to my goal. I have clothes ranging from size 18 to my now size 8-10. I even have a size 6 pair of jeans that fit, but they were cut wrong since they fit like a size 10 pair does.

How do you all decide when it is time to get rid of your old "fat clothes" I have them in boxes with a label that says "Toss on 9/2011. I figure if I haven't gotten back to those sizes by then I will never wear them again. I just want to give myself some time before I toss them all.

Well I'm proud to say I'm wearing a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in who knows how long, and better yet they are even a little baggy. Good thing I poked another hole in my belt the other night!

I just gave away all my large sizes and my current jeans are falling off however i actually love the fact that i have to use a belt to hold them up :scared2: I don't want to my anything new yet. But if i do, bargain shopping at Old Navy or Khols is the best. you can get pants for $5 :crying:

Woohoo!!! Your post prompted me to go dig out the next size down of jeans that I have as the ones I've been wearing are getting loose. And, by golly, they fit! The only thing I am bummed about is the old smaller jeans are not as cute as the ones in the baggy bigger size I've been wearing. I had gone through a faze where I only bought Target jeans because I had gained weight and was gonna lose it fast. Yeah, right! Bummer, I have to wear them again, but maybe it will make me want to race through to the next smaller size faster. LOL

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
