Holy mother of pearl!!

Recommended Posts

HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL! I was banded on 6/8/09 and my best friend was banded 3 weeks later. My mother had gastric bypass surgery 3 days before Thanksgiving. Between the 3 of us, we have lost nearly 200lbs. :rolleyes2: At the time of our surgeries, I was a snug size 28W, my best friend was a size 32W, and my mom a 26W.

This past weekend, we all went through our closets and took out anything that currently doesn't fit or will not fit in the upcoming warm weather season. We had a total of twelve 22 gallon totes full of clothes ranging in sizes from 30/32 (4X) to 22/24 (2X). We also had 6 winter coats added to the pile.

We are planning of having a MAJOR yard sale come this May. I'm sure that by that time, we will have even more clothes in totes. I hope we can make a pretty penny on the clothing (Avenue, CJ Banks, Fashion Bug, Romans, Jessica London, Chadwicks, JMS, etc.) because I will not have any clothes that fit me once warmer weather rolls around  and will need the funds to purchase a new wardrobe.

Sincere congratulations to all 3 of you. Have fun shopping and wearing all those new clothes - plus enjoy the empty closets and cleaning out all those items that no longer fit. :rolleyes2:

I am having issue with clothing also. My old clothes are way too big, but I dont want to buy any new ones because I wont be in them long enough to justify the expense. So for now, I am using safety pins on my tops and draw strings on my pants.

Have you considered a consignment shop? I haven't had much luck selling clothes at a yard sale.

I recently cleaned out my closet and was able to take my nicer clothing to an upscale consignment store. By selling my clothing this way I will get more money for my clothes then I would by having a yard sale and also don't have to subject myself to the rude remarks of yard sale people who don't want big size clothing. Just a thought you all may want to consider.

Congratulations on your combined success, that is awesome and I'm so glad you all have the support of one another.

Congratulations!!!

I had a sale when my clothing size changed and made over 1000.00 (by myself). The key is advertising. I posted it on craigslist, e-mailed it to all of my friends and asked them to forward it to their friends and spent $34.00 to have it advertised in the newspaper.

It was a great investment. People were calling me prior to the sale wanting to come over.

Good luck!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
