This post has really helped me. I was banded Jan 4, 2010, and lost 18 lbs the first month (12 of that the first week). My first fill was Feb 1, and I've only lost about 5 lbs this month. Working out 30+ min 4 days/week and walking 30-40 minutes 5 days/week is the only thing that is helping. I have no restriction, and am SO hoping that my fill on Mon, Mar 1 will help.

My surgeon put some saline in my band during surgery, so I have some restriction, but I can't say that I feel too tight. I am rarely hungry (only when I drink Water too soon after dinner). Here's my usual menu: Breakfast- 1/2 c. scrambled egg beaters w/ 1 tsp olive oil and 2 small chicken sausage links; Lunch: 1/2 c. tuna salad and a "gogurt"; Dinner: 4 oz. crockpot-braised chicken or baked fish and 1/2 c. braised kale (I love kale, could eat it every day). I will sometimes snack on a gogurt or a 1/2 c. apple sauce mid-morning. I figure it is around 1000-1100 calories per day.

I don't want any more restriction right now, because I hear all the horror stories from bandsters who are too tight.

I finally have restriction!!! Ahhh, sweet restirction. I have 6ccs in a 10 band and that is enough for me. It's been almost a week and I am finally learning how to eat again. I don't go for another fill until a week from Monday. But I think I'm finally there! Yeah me....

Reading your posts helped me as well...thank you! I've had two fills now and am up to 6cc in a 14cc band...NOTHING. 22 hours after my fill, I buckled down and had a tri-tip sandwich (I hosted a huge BBQ on Friday), and even eating and chewing slowly, I got the whole thing down with no problems at all. Three days after the fill today, and I just had 3 eggs and 2oz. of leftover tri-tip with a 1/4c. of reduced fat colby jack cheese. That's a lot of food! I'm eagerly awaiting restriction and I go back for a 3rd fill on March 10th...but they said I could call and go in earlier if I was still feeling nothing. I'm thinking March 3rd sounds like a good time to go back (Wednesday) because I don't want to keep wasting time!

This is me in a nutshell. I was banded January 8, I have lost 25lbs. I have had one fill of 1 cc in a 11cc Realize band and don't feel restriction yet. The doctor states I won't until 3 possibly 4 fills. I am busting my butt on the elliptical 4-5 times a week for 40-45 minutes and eating relatively healthy, I have slip ups but their not huge(Damn Girl Scouts) I am going on March 22 and I hope he will put more than 2 cc's to feel something.

True I am happy with the loss but want to see something a little more for all this effort. I can put food away something serious if I chose to. I am at least not making that choice right now.

I only have .5cc and really have no restriction at all. I can tell the band is there because I'm not scarfing food down and will feel satisfied soon enough as long as I eat slowly, but if I'm in a rush I can put food away!

I've still been doing well, though, which is why my doctor wouldn't give me another fill. I lost 11lbs in a month and their goal for me is only 2lbs a week. He did say if I don't lose, I could come in for a fill before my next scheduled appointment, but I lost 2lbs last week, so looks like I'm going to have to wait.

I count calories in and out and as long as I plan my meals out for the day, I'm good at getting my 1000 - 1200 calories, 75g Protein, and under 100 carbs a day. It's the weekends I find that I struggle with because nothing is ever planned. But I did do better this weekend...didn't give in to the big Breakfast my husband fixed or the McDonald's he brought home, lol! And I work out 4 days a week now, at least 45 minutes and burn at least 400 calories each workout.

So, I'm ok with no restriction at this point. Just glad to not have the problems of getting stuck, etc because I did experience that in the weeks after surgery due to the swelling I still had.

I'll just keep on trucking along!

I would call and in addition I would ask for an "aggressive fill". I did and was granted it. It was the one that started restriction for me. I would call and get in there because your band isn't working for ya! Best wishes!!!

Ditto the advice to ask for an aggressive fill.

I have an 11 cc Realize, too. My doctor put 4 ccs in for my first fill. I felt a tiny bit of restriction---for about 18 hours. I go back on Wednesday (three weeks early) for another fill, and have my third fill scheduled for the 26th.

I did have to ask for the upcoming one; my doctor did not anticipate I'd need it. But he was MORE than happy to oblige when asked.

Don't be afraid to ask!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
