Are You Exercising Now for Health/Fitness/Weight Loss?

Recommended Posts

I've been taking brisk walks at least five days a week, approximately 2 miles. Since I need to lose around 10-15 pounds, I dusted off my old exercise tapes/dvds yesterday. So far I've done 2 Turbo Jam workouts, one for cardio and one with weights.

Anyone else here actively exercising for their physical and mental health? If so, let's share right here! icon_biggrin.gif

Here's a nice site with some good stretches:

I am! I walk everyday for about 50mins...I feel so lethargic for the day if I dont now...I also find it is "me" time to chill and listen to my ipod...quite relaxing really...well except for the sweating and stuff! LOL

I have been swimming for about the last 16 months. I had always hating swimming for excercise, my mother loves swimming and would always want me to go with her. Here are some suggestions.

1) Water proof MP3 player! A must have. You can google this or run a search on Amazon.

2) Excellent sources for ladies plus size bathing suits online. Some places have higher prices for your first purchase but then you get discount coupons for future purchases. I usually get 35-50% off coupons and will pay with shipping around $40 for a suit. In stores they tend to be twice as much and are'nt as cute.

3) Since I wear swimdress type suits I don't feel uncomfortable walking from the changing room to the pool. Also that walk is like 20 seconds and then I am in the Water for the rest of my work out. No one is really seeing me.

I run four times a week (about 8kms at a time) and go to bootcamp twice. I continue to build on my fitness and aspire to very athletic goals.

Why not? I may not need to lose weight but it still makes me feel good about myself, accomplished, dedicated etc. I love it, its great stress relief, I love feeling healthy and in control of my body, I love knowing I have great odds for a supremely healthy old age.

Weight loss is about the least of the reasons why I exercise.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
