How do I know what I really need?

Recommended Posts

The 1st PS said, I need Tummy Tuck and Arm Lift.

The 2nd PS said I need Belt Tummy Tuck, partial arm lift and partial inner thighs lift.

I have my 3rd consult next month and if he said something different, how do I know what I really need?

Thanks,

I would listen to your heart!!!! When you look in the mirror can you accept any of the areas recommended to be operated on? Remember, the price you pay for PS is scar formation. I am 4 weeks post op breast reduction and lift and arm reduction. The scars are significant and will take a year to finish remodeling. I couldn't stand to look at my floppy arms or droopy breasts and decided I would deal with the scars. Post op I have no regrets.

Best wishes with your decision making. It is good you are not rushing into anything and are asking for opinions.

You may even get a 4th opinion!!!!

I got the arms done and Tummy Tuck. I also got inner and outer Lipo on my thighs due to cost. I am almost 5 weeks post op and I think I should consider a total thigh lift. The lipo did not give me the desired results i really wanted. I will be getting the girls lifted in the future but am not getting implants.

Don't make your decisions based on the scars though, they really aren't as bad as you would think.

I guess it's all how you want to look.

Good Luck

Mimi -- thanks for posting and sharing you had BR and brachioplasty combination. Did they do the two procedures together on same day? outpatient? Would you do them together again if you had to do it over? Did the surgeon charge you just the incremental cost of the surgery for the arms and then you had 1 operating room, 1 anesthesia, 1 office visits set, etc? Trying to figure out if I can get a price break on the brachioplasty cost by combining with BR that insurance will cover when it excludes covering brachioplasty. I need both surgeries for sure. I totally agree with you statement that you have to look in the mirror and decide what you want to live with. My arms are something I definitely cannot live with. My breasts have always been a problem but I didn't act on changing it due to my overall overweight and obesity situation.

Hope you will post some answers to my questions here?

Any change you would be willing to share the cost for each surgery? in a Private Message? Thanks.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I know I really need the arms done because I cannot even wear short sleeves without seeing my skin hanging out. As for my thighs I know Lipo won't work because my skins are too loose. However, the tummy thing I don't know whether to get extended Tummy Tuck or belt tummy tuck.

Here is the price for both consults.

1st PS - Arm & Tummy Tuck - $11,000 (out patient)

Thighs Lift - $4000

2nd PS - Thigh lift & Belt Tummy Tuck (all around tuck) - $14,000 with an overnight stay at the hospital.

Arm lifts alone - $4,500-$5,000. (out patient)

I have another consults next month and I will post the price quote when I found out.

I wish I could post my tummy pictures somewhere and ask the one that have done it to see what I really need.

Thanks,

I agree with Mimi, Listen to your heart. I had 5 consults, 4 with different dr's and was told something different by all 4 of them. The 1st PS I saw was the one I went with as he was the most open and honest and not [pushy. Asked me WHAT bothered me the most. I knew going in I have issues with everything, BUT I also knew that I can't afford to fix it all in one surgery, and at that moment my TUMMY was what bothered me the most. I don't wear shorts very often so I can hide the thighs, as for the bat wong arms, well sure they need to be done, but I can live with them untill I win the lottery.

I had an extended Tummy Tuck with anchor cut and also a breast lift with implants in my surgery. I don't see another surgery anytime soon as there just ins't any $$$ for it. Good luck in your next consult.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
