I am set for August 3rd! No pre-op liquid diet required. Lost 30 lbs from 3 month nutrition class. After reading how everybody is talking about having to suffer through the strict diets, I started feeling guilty began worrying about the size of my liver, so I decided to ramp up my diet. I have 9 days left.

I am also a teacher and am working now to get my room ready now so I can get the heavy lifting done prior to surgery. We moved to a different building, so there is so much more to be done than normal.

My doctor only requires liquid diet 1-2 days post op and then it will be on to mushies! Good luck to all of you!

Hi all... I am having my band placed Aug 26th i am self pay and am going to Mexico to have it done so i dont have to do all kinds of different insurance mandated stuff like 6 mos supervised diets and stuff like that. i do have to do a 2 week pre-op diet and am getting kind of scared of that cuz i have never done well on diets and it looks kinda expensive to buy all low carb food... well good luck to everyone...

This is a big question for me. I am a teacher too and the last thing I want is all the attention on me and not the programs and things that I am working on at work. I decided not to tell everyone, however, I have a very close group of three other friends there at work and how I will slip it past them...honestly they are going to know something is up. So then the big question is, "Once one person knows, is everyone going to know?" I don't want to come across as dishonest. I am stuck on this question too.

Hi, Jen. I totally understand. I have only told my boss and two co-workers. I asked them for there discresion and told them I didn't want it to be common knowledge. Hopefully, they will keep it quiet. I decided not to tell anyone else at work and I'm sure I will be asked when I start losing weight. My plan is to tell them that I am on a medical diet that is monitored by my doctor. I don't plan on telling them I have had the band. It's none of their business.

I need some help. I started on the liquid diet today. The doctor supplies the Protein powders. I got chocolate and vanilla. The vanilla is not drinkable. I almost gagged on it. The chocolate is not quite as bad but let me tell you....I wouldn't need to have the band done if this were the only thing I could eat for the rest of my life. I would starve to death.

I need help. What are other doing? Is anyone else on just Protein powders and if so how are you doing?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
