Hello everyone, I started my pre-op diet on Wed the 27th my surgery date is scheduled for the 10th of Feb. They instructed me to keep it low carb and low sugar and to drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch, I chose Atkins advantage they are bearable. Then I can have a lean Protein for dinner with a low carb veggie. I have had cilantro and lime chicken, baked chicken, I bought some fish and some tenderloin, this was all listed on my paper as lean meats, and then some. Only now Im seriously dreaming of carbs. I swear I only want carbs so bad because I know I cant have them. Last night I had a dream that I was on a cruise and I was eating ever carb in sight at the buffet lol I mean come on is this normal!?! I was telling my friend its like I went cold turkey on crack or something (just say no to drugs!) I know this is the pre-op diet but even after the band you have to be cautious of starchy carb filled foods. Its a life style change I know this but I didn't think it make me have withdraws :glare: Anyone else feeling the same way about carbs or any other food you cant have?

You are normal. And I think I have had that same cruise dream in the past. Slim Fast makes a low carb shake that I like better than Atkins. I can't have either one. My pre-op requires whey Protein Drinks (not horrible but would prefer slim fast). I have noticed in the past on low-carb diets that after about the first week the cravings for carbs ease up. Until then, I am cranky - get headaches and am tired. Best of luck.

i dont know if it relates but i have cut out the chocolate and diet pepsi from my diet and i am having withdrawls from that...i have the shakes and headaches and being a really bad Migraine sufferer this is doing me in. i am 5 days no choco and this is day 3 with zero pepsi. if i need a carbonated beverage i am now opting for sprite zero but trying to keep that to a minimum as well. i really do not eat alot of breads and stuff now so i think i will be ok with that. i dont know what i am doing really. just trying to get through the day. i have had that same cruise ship dream only i was at the desert bar eating all the chocolate in sight....yikes!

i tried some grilled boneless and skinless chicken breasts on the george foreman, marinated in tuscan italian dressing a few days ago and it was amazing. put that on a bed of greens with some shredded cheese and cucumbers and a low fat ranch dressing! even the kids enjoyed it!

The cravings do lighten up if you can stick it out. My Doc required low carb preop and post op. I don't think they ever fully go away. If I have a carb now it starts the cravings all over again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
