I'm stuck--and h-u-n-g-r-y!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! I have lost 40 lbs since banding in July. I know that is good, but I am starving and have not lost any weight in several weeks. I used to feel full after just a very small meal. Now I am able to eat more before feeling full and am hungry again much sooner than before.

I had a fill in August and again at the end of Sept.

I have gone from a 24 to an 18 in pant size and I know that is great, too. I just am worried about my resolve and losing that "I've had enough" feeling--something I NEVER felt before surgery.

What do you think?

Colleen

do you think you need a fill?

can you eat what you want, including bread? ???

I would talk with your doctor and see if a small fill would be helpful

And you might just need another fill -- maybe a small one will do wonders for you. It's been a month since your last one. You can give it a try! (you could always unfill if it's too tight)

Thanks for the advice. Just to clarify--"I've had enough" meant feeling satiated, something that I don't think I ever felt before my surgery. Before, I just ate until a) it was gone or :) no more would physically fit in my stomach.

And yes, I know that I am not starving, but am very hungry most of the day.

Someone asked if I could eat bread (No!), no brisket or roast beef or steak, no dry chicken. Everything else goes down as long as I chew.

Thanks.

Colleen

Jack-I know your words of encouragement were directed to Colleen. but they really hit home for me too. Thanks! Trying to get up the courage to call for my appointment to be rebanded. Not sure what is holding me back 'cause I miss my band.

Thanks again.

After being through what you went through with that band, it must really take some initiative and courage to go through it again. I imagine you were terrified when things went wrong. It sounds like you had a tough time of it. I admire the courage you have to go through this again. It shows you really are committed to this goal of losing weight, and hey if they are picking up the cost (and they certainly should) go for it and be happy. Chances of that happening again are slim to none, so if you miss the band get it back. Be happy.

Collen,

just wondering ~ do you have any restriction? Do you feel your food sitting in you pouch for a small period of time?

I may give it another week or two and see if I gain more restriction (sometimes we gain more restriction 4 - 6 weeks after a fill) before contacting my surgeon with concern. You may have developed a small leak and lost some of your fill/fluid thus the reason you are "starving"!

I think Jack's on crack again and is seeing dragons. Drugs are bad, Jack.

Thanks, Jack! I love your Dragon metaphor. I think of it often when facing my own. I now have an appt. for my 2nd fill...the one I have been putting off. It's round two for me and my Dragon! Cindy

Jack sounds normal and sane. What is wrong with this picture? I wish I were as confident and well adjusted as he is. Is this a man thing? Jack, are you a dr? You certainly are funny and tell it as it is. I don't have the band yet, but I'm taking in everything I read here, especially the positive remarks. You have a great attitude....but there are those like me that aren't as well adjusted :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
