Sept 2009: how's your progress?

Recommended Posts

Hello! How is everyone doing? I was banded on 9/09/09 (no pre surgery diet) and have lost about 28 pounds and have had two fills. I hoped that I would have lost more by now by I have not been as consistent as I need to be. How much have you lost? Are you happy with your progress? If you are really successful, what are you doing?

Good luck!

I was banded 7/09/09 and have dropped 68 pounds so far .... maybe 69 in the morning, as I have been at 68 for a few days. I've had 2 fills and have had pretty tight restriction since Sept. I am very pleased with my progress so far. I feel so much thinner already !!

Whoo Hoooo !! I have gone from wearing very tight size 2X scrubs to work to very loose size Large right now. Mediums here I come!

Hi, I was banded 9/18/09 and have lost 55lbs so far. I was a little tight around Christmastime and had to get some Fluid taken out of the band. So I'm not sure just how much I have in there now. It's not very much. I've been losing more slowly now and it's getting a little frustrating. But I'm very happy with my loss so far.

I'm upping my exercise: I do Pilates and ball exercises for an hour about 3 or 4 times a week, plus I do 40 mins on the elliptical about 5 x a week. I walk outside when it's nice enough, too.

I was banded in Sept 09 and have lost 52 lbs. My third fill in Dec was too tight so I lost 12 lbs that month (had to have an unfill mid month). I think I am at my sweet spot now I have 5.6 cc's in a 10 cc Lapband APS. I'm extremely happy with the results so far (they have exceeded my expectations). I am working out only 2 days a week (train in horseback riding). During the week I walk though I have been bad about that and long hours at work have pretty much have me abandoning the gym. I average 1000 calories a day I do log my food and I do own a bodybugg to figure out the calorie burn.

Oh a few other things I do which I think are important. I check in with my Dr's office monthly (they ask us to and even if I don't feel like I need a fill i go to just make sure they agree). They want us there monthly for the first year and I think its important. There is also a support group that I go to 1 time every two months (It is monthly but I can't get there always). I think the most important thing is to make sure you are staying on top of your fills; eat slowly and don't eat the slider foods.

Hi there!

I was banded on September 24 and have lost 40lbs. My eating habits have changed dramatically and I am so happy that I no longer eat the way I used to. I do need to up my exercise though. I have 3 demanding kids who keep me on my feet and I need to make time to get active. It has been Summer holidays here so it is very hot and I have been hibernating in the airconditioning!

I have had 2 fills, - 6.5cc in a 9cc band. I am very happy with the restriction I have. I still have a sweet tooth but it is easily satifisfied.

Isn't it great to be banded?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
