back and forth, back and forth

Recommended Posts

So- since October I have been going back and forth on getting a fill, getting an unfill, getting a fill, getting an unfill, and recently had a fill. And now I feel very little restriction and will be going in to my appointment in hopes of another fill. But in the back of my mind I am worried that I will be too tight and back in for an unfill. This is getting frustrating because I have had no weightloss since October. Is anyone else having as difficult of a time trying to find the "perfect" amount? I was told that the smallest fills I can receive are 1/4 cc- does this sound like your experience as well?

I too have been going thru the fill/unfill process and it is very frustrating. After hitting a plateau for awhile I thought I needed to be tighter but then ended up way too miserably tight so they unfilled a little and even though my restriction isn't as good as I like I've decided it's better than pbing everything for now!! So I dont know if that helps at all but at least your not alone!!

I'm doing the same thing! I'm two years out and for the last 8 months or so it's either I'm too restricted and keep barfing, or they take out the absolute smallest amount and I could eat a horse. I just came back about 2 hours ago from another fill. We'll see what happens. One things I have been very bad about is doing the liquids/purees after my fills. I just eat. I'm hoping that has been my problem so I came home and had some Tomato Soup. this sucks.

You're definitely not alone! I was banded in February of 2008 so it's been nearly 2 years now. I've been going in for fills about every 4-6 weeks since. That's alot! I get too tight and I take some out, I'm not tight enough I get some put back in.

I've decided finally that some of us will probably never find that perfect sweet spot. I think for me the best I can hope for is some restriction but not enough to keep me full for 5 hours. Once I start getting a little too restricted I get the night coughs, swollen throat, reflux... all that. It is what it is though. I just have to mostly rely on my will power more than others I guess.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
