dang it! Shouldn't I have the hang of this by now?

Ok, here goes. I have been banded for almost 2 years. I started at 210 pounds, lost 50, gained 10 back. I am now 170ish.

Here is my problem. I cannot eat during the day( Nothing goes down, I feel very restricted and end up spitting up), therefore, I eat icecream..yes icecream. This is how I gained the 10 pounds back. Come 8:00 at night, I am able to eat like a horse. What is this about? Am I too restricted? Even on those rare times when I can eat, I never feel "full". My "full" feeling is when food gets stuck.

I am considering going to the doctor to get some saline removed. Maybe I am too tight? Maybe my band slipped. Anyone else have this issue?

Yup, I think you're too tight. Get a small unfill. An all ice cream diet can't be good for you. :)

while an all ice cream diet does have all of the appeal of, well an all ice cream diet, it really isn't good for you.

Yes, you are too tight, go for an unfill. :)

While you probably should get a small unfill, I've also read that if you eat a good bit at night, it will keep you restricted throughout the morning/midday/and sometimes afternoon. I have found that this has happened to me, so I tried cutting back at night and not eating after 8pm at all. For a few days, I was quite hungry in the evenings, but after that, I was able to get something down for Breakfast and lunch, therefor felt less hungry at dinner. Of course I occasionally slip up on that plan lol, but its all a learning curve.

Its worth a shot :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
