What brand of calcium citrate do you take?

Recommended Posts

This is the brand I ordered from drugstore.com prior to surgery: calcium citrate, chewable wafers Online at drugstore.com (Twinlab)

I bought three bottles at one time because I'm supposed to take 2 of these 2x per day to get the dose my surgeon wants. So, each bottle only lasts 15 days.

I'm just about to start my third bottle so figured I should restock soon. Not sure if I want to buy more of these or try some other brand of Calcium citrate. I hated these at first (big and gritty), but I've gotten used to them.

I wonder if there is something I would like better, though. For those of you who take calcium citrate, please respond and let me know what brand you take and if you like it. And, if you've tried others, what you think.

Thanks!

Mmmm, that Lemon kind sounds good.

I got Bariatric Advantage brand lozenges and think they're only just tolerable. I tried a mint flavor at my doc's office, tasted like a giant mint Tums. So I order cinnamon, wish I'd ordered Cherry. I only bought one bottle though, just until I'm allowed to swallow pills again.

My nutritionist just old me about the Calcet lemon chews. I was thinking about trying them. I just hope they aren't too sweet.

They're not very sweet - kinda like a marshmellowy lemon...with a thicker shell. I think they're a good balance of everything, and a great treat to start my day!

I use OS Cal 500 + D, chewable Tablets, Light Lemon Chiffon. I take two each day...am and pm. They don't taste too bad!

I do find them too sweet. I think I've lost some of my sweet tooth since the band and seem to be sensitive to overly sweet stuff. Some of the protien bars are like that for me too.

I have some chewable Calcium, one I've gotten from GNC which are huge and taste like giant sweet tarts. I also have the cinnamon ones that I got from Bariatric Eating as well as the ones that taste like tootsie rolls.

Thanks for all your replies. The Calcet ones sound so yummy, but they contain dairy and I am lactose intolerant. I have to take a lactaid chewable every time I eat milk products or my tummy isnot happy. I'm still getting used to doing that. I only figured out about 3 months ago about my lactose intolerance and its hard to remember to take the lactaid every time I need to as it is.

So, I searched around online to try to find something else. I decided to order some Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate Chews. They come in lemon flavor and chocolate. I read a review from someone that said the lemon flavor tastes like a starburst candy. So, if that is really the case, then it should be much better than the big chalky ones I am taking from TwinLab.

I will report back once I get them in the mail and have a chance to try them.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
