Is It Bad Right Now To Eat Until Full?

Recommended Posts

I am a little over 2-weeks post-op and I have a question about the amount I can eat. I am in the soft food stage and my nutritionist says to eat 3/4c for every meal. For the first 3 days, this amount of food was fine, but after that, I now don't feel "full" at 3/4c, I feel "full" at probably closer to a cup. My question is, do you think I am doing any damage at eating that little bit more until I feel full and does feeling full, I mean that physical feeling of being full, a bad thing? Could it stretch my stomach even though I haven't had a fill yet? I completely understand why this phase is called BANDSTER HELL!!!

When I went for my 1 week post op visit (I am 3 weeks post op now), they told me that I could eat until "full" because I was/am starving. So based on what my doctor said, I don't think you will do any damage! I'm so looking forward to my fill next week! If you're like me, I do not have any Fluid in my band at all, so my band isn't doing anything for me right now. Now, I'm not pigging out, I am stopping when I feel satisfied, but it's definitely more towards a cup or more of food. And I'm hungry every 2 hours. Hang in there! We can do this!!!!

I'd change "full" to "sated." If you're like me, you had no idea what full was and instead went for overstuffed. Welcome to Bandster Hell--I hope your first fill helps

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
