Normal restriction or too tight?

Recommended Posts

I just got my 2nd fill last week and I've been having a hard time eating. I know that's kinda the point of the band, but I eat 4 bites and find myself with discomfort in my chest. The food does seem to go down though. I'm eating slowly with small bites, but now I find myself wanting more yogurt or slidey foods to supplement the 4 bites of real food. Is this normal restriction or is the band too tight?

I am having the same issue, I too got my 2nd fill last week and I am pbing and bringing it back up. But not all my food, I can eat some things and be ok, but I do notice if I try to eat red meat it wont stay down. I too am eating more yogurt, cottage cheese, things like that. Good luck and I hope this goes away or subsides soon.

You should check with your doctor, but with mine, if you can't tolerate solid foods within two weeks of a fill, you should go back in for a small unfill. There are some people who have trouble with certain problem foods, but it sounds like your issue is more across the board.

Saw the Dr. and got a small unfill (.3 cc). Hopefully this will help.

How many cc did you have before the unfill?

That sounds too tight. You should be able to eat comfortably. At least 1/2 cup of food. I think a small unfill was a good move.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
