Do you find that you no longer like the taste of certain foods? And are there other foods you find you like better?

Just curious, I will post some of my thoughts later.

Yeah, some foods don't taste as good when you have to chew it alot. Wait until you decide to eat popcorn...not good when chewed well, better when you could inhale it.:(

I had a steak for the first time yesterday. OMG, it really tasted good. Now, mind you, it WAS a good steak. It came with 4 scallops. I couldnt eat them. By the time I had chewed my first bite enough to swallow, I didnt want any more.

I could live without ever eating a steak but don't you dare tell me that the band ruins scallops. Those succulent, sweet, expensive mollusks are in my top 10, perhaps 5 foods.

I bought a pound of sea scallops last night and ate all of them. Once banded, I am hoping to at least enjoy a half pound of them on occasion.

It will be a year on January 21, 2010 so far so good. I am just now starting to experience some side effects: like this burning on the right side of my stomach just below my rib cage. It comes and goes and I believe it may just be some inflamation from pbing and drinking Water to fast.

Let me know if anyone has experienced this? thanks:sleep:

Next time you make some scallops, try chewing 30 times per bite. Wasnt a good thing for me. :(

OnNe thing I've noticed: I'm a texture person and something with the right texture (smooth/creamy) could sucker me into eating way too much pre-band. But now, creamy doesn't ring my chimes??? But when I eat my whole grain carbs, they have to be crunchy... Kelloggs Special K Crackers are my fave at the moment. I religiously count out 17 crackers (equals 90 calories and 1 serving of whole grain carb). For a while, it was a cracker called Crunch Masters, which has a lot of seeds in them but I got over those when I opened the second bag and I got a strong whiff and realized they smelled like the bird seed I feed my parakeets, LOL.

For me, it's not really related to chewing--but yes, there are things that don't ring my bells any more.

Yes, i know exactly what you are talking about. I will put a bite of food in my mouth, and of course it is good the first few chews (I would have normally swallowed at this point) but then I keep chewing and it's like YUK! I think meat is the worst for me especially when I'm chewing and run into gristle....double yuk. I think it's because I chew all the flavoring out and am just stuck with the meat...I shutter just thinking about it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
