Moving Really Fast- Surgery on 1/26/10

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, my name is Kini and I live in Dallas, Texas.

I decided over the holiday that I no longer wanted to continue this cycle of yo yo dieting and disappointment. I had considered the lap band last year, but talked myself out of it.

So with the new year I made a consultation appointment on Jan 5, 2009. Two days later they had my insurance approval. This week I had my lab work done and was cleared by the cardiologist. I start my pre op diet Tuesday and see the Dr Felts on Thursday. My surgery day is Jan 26th!

Is it just me or is that moving along super fast!!!!! I'm really nervous about this. Is it normal for things to move so quickly or has the good Lord just removed all the obstacles?

Has anyone had their surgery by Dr Frank Felts @ the Surgery Center at Craig Ranch? What was your experience? I really haven't had an opportunity to REALLY research this doctor.

Any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I am new to the site and just got my insurance approval recently too... all I can really say is that I feel like, for myself, I would have to mentally prepare for it as much as possible. I have been thinking about having this done for the last several months and just had to get my mind where it should be, where I'm comfortable with it... If you feel like you need a little longer to prepare for it, just tell your doctor. If you have a good doc, I'm sure he or she wants what's best for you, right?

Good luck!

Hi Kini- My process is moving along quickly as well. I too decided over the holiday to change my life, my consult was on the 11th, my pre-op diet starts this week and surgery at the end of the month. So I don't think it is unusual for the process to move along quickly. I wish you the best of luck, and we'll have to keep in touch as our progress will be running on a similar timeline.

Lauren

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
