I am dealing with the same thing. While I must admit this month I haven't been able to exercise because of my back. It is very frustrating to know that I am doing all I can. I don't drink with meals but still will not release the weight. My visits to the chiropractor will be going on for the next 9 weeks. I have found out how important the Protein is for me everyday. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Also I can eat what ever I want. My band is 14cc band, I think that I have 6 or 7 cc in my band. I am worried I will never get restriction. What can I do?

It sounds like you need a fill! I have 7cc's in my 10cc band and I'm just now getting proper restriction. It helps so much!

Can you get in for a fill?

If not, I would just go back to the basics of eating proper calories, tracking food, drinking lots of Water, and being sure to get in your Protein.

Keep us posted!

HELP!!

I have 9cc's in my 11cc band.....and i have gained all my weight back----- im scared to go back to the dr, i dont want to get yelled at....

In November I stopped losing and couldnt stop sleeping and I went to my primary dr where I found out that my Thyroid is all messed up again and my vit d was extremely low like a 4 out of 35. So I got that in check and was feeling soo much better and energetic by the time the holidays came around. Then two days before Christmas I got pneumonia and was put on bed rest for two weeks.......Then I recovered then through out my back and cannot do any exercise since then. I have been doing back therapy twice a week since then. And still am going... Yesterday I barely got released to do the elliptical with out using the moving bars. Thats when I weighed myself and was CRUSHED....

Now that I think about it, I should have noticed when I lost all the compliments and people asking how Im doing that I had gained weight.....

The only positive thing from this is I havent exceeded preop weight....and I will NOT!

Im scared that there is nothing they can do for me..... will they give me another fill since i am soo close......

DeAndraBaby,

I'm sorry for what you have been going through! Wow - you've had a rough time the last few months.

I'm going to PM you to see if I can help you.

Just know that you should NEVER be yelled at from your Dr. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and tell them what has been happening. They want you to succeed at this at well, you are a team. If you do not have restriction, they need to work with you to get there.

I now have 7cc's in my 10cc band. My Dr. added 1cc on Feb. 1st. I've lost 14 lbs. since then. (And you saw how worried I was when I started this thread.)

Anyways, I hope you can figure out how to get back on a losing streak. I know it will happen!! Keep your chin up and look for a message from me.

DeAndreaBaby,

I know what you mean, I haven't weighed myself because I'm scared to see what the scale says. I have probably about 2 1/2 cc's in my 10CC band, and my doc is really stingey with fills. I'm in for an ass reaming from him tomorrow when I go for my fill.

It's really tough the situation we're in, I have absolutely no restriction right now, and it's terrifying, because you don't realize the lack of restriction until your to the point of vomiting (In my case anyway) And I'm in the same boat as you as far as not realizing that the compliments stopped. everyone kind of stopped paying attention to what I was eating, and how an outfit suddenly looked different on me. It's also harder in my case, because Not everyone knows why I was losing weight. Only 1 of my co-workers know that I had the Surgery, my close friends and family know as well.

Since your doc discovered your thyroid being out of whack, do they think it's because of the WLS and hormonal changes that it suddenly acted up?

Hang in there, and know that your not alone in this :smile2:

Hi, DeAndraBaby,

I just sent you a PM. I didn't realize you had 9 out of 11 ccs. It could be that you need a slight unfill and are eating the wrong foods that are easier to get down. I did this back in Nov./Dec. and I gained. Once I got my unfill, I was able to eat healthier foods again. Sounds backwards, doesn't it? But, if you think about it, foods like ice cream and pudding and milkshakes go down much easier than chicken and carrots when your band is too tight. And, as many of us (myself included) have found out, for some reason, chips go down just fine when you're too tight, also.

Do not be afraid to go back to the doctor to ask for help. You are not the first person to gain weight after having WLS, believe me! The doctor is there to help you. My nurse tells me all the time that she wishes people would come back if they are having problems, instead of disappearing out of shame. So, hold your head up high and tell them that now that your health issues are getting better, you are ready to get back on track with your band. :smile2::thumbup:

You can do it! And, you *always* have us mayo Banditos here for support! :)

Keep in touch!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
