I am newly banded 5 days post. I have a questions about foods.

Are there any food items we will never beable to eat again.

I am wondering about a slice of pizza or maybe a pancake once in a while. Do these types of food get stuck??? I am just curious as I have just started my Protein Drink today and am tolerated them well. I hope that I will be able to eat some mushy foods on Thanksgiving as I will be 2 weeks out by then. Thanks

5 days banded.. well kiss bread, steak and coke good bye.. Some people can eat it after a year out, some never- while others could eat or drink it today.

At 5 days I was staring to get hungry. Every doctor is different not sure if you have to do 1 or 2 weeks on liquid? I was told 2 week, I made it 10 days. I was just to hungry..I had Tomato Soup but just a half cup. I'm sure by next thursday you could have mash potatoes, gravy, greenbeens, bake Beans and maybe a bite of turkey.. Just chew everything really good. Oh and a piece of pumpkin pie without the crust:D You will see that a teaspoon of each will be it.. You just want to make sure you give body time to heal. Don't rush in with a bunch of food.< /p>

I started at 14 days trying more mushed type foods. The only thing that felt stuck was eggs?

I get my first fill Tuesday-Oh that's tommorow! So I'm not sure what I'll be eatting next Thursday? Right now I'm eatting more but still get full fast.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
