I am with you, I am 5 days post op, and I don't know what to do...I'm not feeling full, I don't think that I am drinking enough. I'm afraid to overeat drink, because I don't want to vomit.

On my full liquid phase, what saved me was cream of chicken Soup. I heated it with added skim milk, instead of Water. I then added a little sage, garlic powder and pepper to it and it was so tasty, my 16 year old took it to work for her lunch.< /p>

I was too just after surgery. Just continue your small liquid diet but drink/eat often. My doctor let me move on solids about 10 days post-op. Good luck.

I was feeling like that up until today. The only thing I can think of is that I'm drinking more warm/hot fluids. I'm also heating my skim milk up and putting a tiny bit of vanilla Protein or cocoa in there for a treat. But I do feel like I'm drinking like crazy. What are you drinking? Are you switching up your fluids and giving yourself some variety? Maybe that will help make you feel a little more satisfied.

I was pretty spaced out on pain killers the whole first week so I was sleeping and didn't really notice my diet for the first maybe 5 days. Now I am on full liquids and I want real food so bad, but it seems easier when you are healing because it gets better every day.

Hey all,

My full liquid diet consists of whatever I can get through a straw. That is what my surgeon said. I have been cheating and mushing up saltines into powder and adding them to Soups to try to fight the hunger. I am REALLY tempted to puree some scrambled eggs. I just don't get it, I never get that full feeling. It's like it disappeared!

Drink your Protein Drinks. It's so crucial. Also, try some of the Campbell's Soup at Hand Soups. I looked forward to those everyday.

I'm probably not the best, but I'm cheating like a dog on my post op diet. My doc is VERY strict, and has me on a 2 week liquid, 2 week puree, 2 week soft diet. Well, it's day 14 now, and I've been eating soft foods for about 3 days now. By day 5 or 6 I just couldn't take it anymore! I'm a very picky eater, and purees just aren't cutting it for me, with the exception of applesauce. So, I did a whole lot of looking around here on this site, and it seemed that most people were moving on to real food faster than I was supposed to so I moved myself on. Do I recommend it? Not necessarily, but it saved me from drinking 6000 calories a day in milk and juice. I'm actually satisfied on about 1100 and I'm able to get the Protein in so much easier. But just so you know, I totally understand where you are coming from. Maybe call your doc and see if he/she will advance you a little faster?

I am post op day 5. I am on the same diet, whatever I can get through a straw. I found dannon light strawberry cream smoothie that are sugar free and low carb(really good). I have also been eating cream of chicken and mushroom Soup (strained). sugar-free fudge pops are a life saver. I also bought some whey Protein 1 scoop in the smoothie =25 grams of Protein. I had a hital hernia repair and can not have anything but liquids for the full 2 weeks. It is hard because I have 3 kids to cook for. I haven't really been hungry, I just want to eat what I am cooking for the kids. My husband works out of town which makes it really hard on me. Keep the faith, you can do it:)

You're normal!!! Congratulations! I woke up at 4:00 a.m. on day 7 STARVING and stayed that way for about 5 days. I was allowed cream of wheat and oatmeal on my liquids but make sure you make them fairly thin the first couple times, I didn't thin my cream of wheat out enough the first time and thought I was going to have a heart attack and die for about 3 hours after I ate it, chest pain/pressure radiating up into my left shoulder...It was miserable but eventually did pass. I'd also recommend blending the oatmeal the first time or two so you don't get hung on a chunk. I was also allowed pudding on my full liquids which I fudged and added fat free whipped topping too...that satisfied a craving too  I also created a cream cheese/pudding/whipped topping concoction for Christmas that filled me for a while (sorry, no recipe, just a little of this and that until I liked how it tasted).

Good luck, it gets MUCH better once you hit the soft stage! And like they said above, get your Protein, it helps :blushing:

It might be worth a phone call to your surgeon to ask if you can proceed to soft foods. I was allowed to move faster than I was initially told based on my post-op progress. I tell you, mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs never tasted so good!

I am day 5 and I am starving too! I am going to eat some creamed Soup tonight and see if that helps. I notice if I don't stay on top of my hunger than it just gets worse.

I am so looking forward to Thursday..I am so ready for something to "chew" even if it is mushy..LOL

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
