Dont be so hard on yourself!!! You became fat for a reason. Like a lot of us, it is your emotional crutch. YOu got in a fight, so you do what makes you feel better emotionally. YOu most likely have been doing that your entire adult life.

You cant change overnight. It is impossible. Acknowledge it and get right back on track. There will be many many bumps in the road. The difference this time around is that you will have the lapband as a tool on your side.

So dust off your pants, and get back at it!! you deserve this!!!! you still have a few days left before surgery.

If you feel like you are going to go for that familiar food crutch, come post here first. We will help you through this!!!!

My best advice to you is that every morning when you first wake up and you are brushing you teeth...repeat this to yourself in the mirror (out loud)..."I am confident, I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!" Once you believe this, you WILL succeed. Above ALL else...remain positive and never lose hope, for in hope...all things are possible. :blushing:

I'm on day six of my pre op Liquid Protein diet and yea it really sucks. I know what your going through. I spent a lot of time in my room or just sleeping because I didn't want to be around my family enjoying all of their holiday foods. I almost feel the same way, if it is this hard for me know how am I going to be able to cope with the band??

Honestly, honey, the preop diet is the worst part of the whole thing. If you just remember that after surgery, you won't be so hungry all the time, and you WILL lose weight, that should get you through.

In my case, I had waited so long to have the surgery (to be able to find a surgeon I could afford!), my excitement was enough to make me stick to the preop diet. Plus, many physicians will NOT do your surgery if you don't lose some weight beforehand.

If you truly want the surgery and are happy that God has given you a way to stop being overweight for life, then you will be able to stick to the preop diet.

As a medical professional, it sounds as though you might be experiencing some depression, which is common for many people. If you have not been treated for this, you may want to see your family doctor, who can prescribe something that will help. If you do have depression and your depressive symptoms do not improve, your surgeon will probably not perform your surgery at this time but will wait until the depression is under better control.

Good luck to you, honey. :blushing:

Also, part of the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver and make the surgery easier. You owe it to yourself!

Your recovery will be that much quicker if you can stick with it. On another board a poster speaks of her liver splitting in two during surgery. It isn't worth the risk.

My doc said he would cancel if he got in and my liver was not in good enough shape to tolerate the procedure.

That pretty much kept me on the straight and narrow.

Best wishes!

Denise

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
