1/3 of the way there - It is a Happy New Year!

Recommended Posts

I weighed myself this morning and, Holy Cow, I am a third of the way to my goal of losing 100 pounds!!:w00t::tongue2: I haven't been banded yet but that should happen later this month. I lost the 33 pounds since my initial consultation. I was required to do a 3 month medically supervised diet by my insurance company. I was disappointed at first because I wanted to move forward NOW. However, I am glad to have had the time to learn the bandster rules of eating through this forum and my supervised diet. I didn't think the supervised diet would be effective but I was wrong. It helped me to think about, and visualize what being banded is all about. They had me practice the banded lifestyle and make changes to my way of thinking. It also helped to form better habits. What I mean is that I have formed many of the eating habits that I will need before having to live with them. It has been a great help. I look forward to being banded and losing the next 67 pounds. I feel so much better now that I can't imagine how I will feel at goal. I have so much more energy and it is much easier to move. It can only get better.:smile2::lol:

Congratulations!!

I can appreciate the effort it takes. I am also 1/3 of the way to my goal prebanding.

I figured that there was no reason to wait and I got a headstart

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
