Over for my band???

Recommended Posts

I have a question. I have e-mailed my doctor and I am not getting any response so I thought I would ask here. I have been getting a series of fills and unfills for the last two years with no weight loss. My band has been dialated twice. Once this time last year and again about a month and a half ago. A few weeks ago I got a fill from my pouch being completely unfilled for about a month. He put in .07 which is all I can handle from a 3 cc pouch. I am experiencing heart burn in the morning. Could I be to tight? I am not throwing up or anything like that and I do feel some restriction. Has anyone else experienced not having a large amount in a 3 cc band other than me? From the begining I have not been able to hold more than maybe 1cc or less of Fluid in my band. Is this normal? I can't get an answer from my doctor. Is there anything esle I can do for my band?

I have not heard of a 3cc band. I have a 4cc band that I got in Sept. 2008. I am currently unfilled due to a stuck episode that put me in the ER and then overnight in the hospital. About 1.5 cc was removed (I thought I had 2cc) from my band in the ER. 3cc in my band was way overfilled and I had a lot of problems. I have never had the band work for me in the way it should - it has never reduced my hunger or allowed me to feel satisfied after eating.

I am operating on willpower and a healthy diet. I am scheduled for another upper GI next month. The band has caused me to get a hiatal hernia, esophageal motility disorder, left shoulder pain and getting stuck. At this point, I don't see a fill in my future.

I have lost 75 pounds but that has mostly been on my own with all the pre and post op diets, especially the liquids only. Only about 15 lbs has been from the band and I haven't lost anything since last spring.

I'm not sure this has answered your question but it is the experience I have had with a similar sized band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
