  1. I drank 1-2 protein shakes daily initally. then after 6mons or so I started implimenting more protein filled foods. I found a bean and rice protein burger at Costco that I like very much. It is about 17grms of protien in 1 burger. I recoomend starting an exercise ritual with cardio. I do a mile or 2 on the treadmill and I personally usually do about 10mins on the stair master. Thank you for your nice comments. You all have the tool now to loss the weight you just need the motivation.

  4. Hi Shelly, I read your comment to Gregnir and I just wanted to give a bit of support to you! This band will work if you let it and you really have to listen to it and get your fills or really they are called adjustments on a regular basis. I have a great Doctor who allows me to be the judge of when I need a fill. If I find that I am starting to eat more then my cup of food at eating time then I call and get the adjustment that I need. I have only been banded for 6 weeks and I have now had two adjustments. It sometimes takes 6-8 adjustments before you get to where to are loosing regularly. I hope that you will not give up and that you will get back to having the LB help you! Good Luck! Cheryl

  5. Had a bit of a trying week. I work in Elections and Tuesday was school elections and they brought in all this not so good for you food. So of course I had to have some. Although I did not do as bad as I would have in the past and I think the scale will show that when I weigh myself tomorrow. If I gained a pound this week oh well I won't fret because I know it'll come off next week.

     

    That's alot of weight you've lost so far. How awesome is that. Your liquid diet will be easier. By next week you won't be wanting to kill people and being around food will be easier for you. You will see that weight dropping off you and it will keep you focused on your goal!

  6. Hello babydoll1, things are going good. I went to my 2 week check up on the 5th. I have my first fill next month on the 9th. I started my soft foods on that day also for four days. So on Mothers Day I can have reg. foods. My doctor said to eat slow and to take small bites.How is the weight loss going for you?

  7. 2-day is my 7th month bandiversary and im 120 pounds down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant say enuff good things about the band...yes...i've had to work very hard...yes i had to change the way i eat and view food...yes i have to exercise...is exercising and eating healthy worth looking better...feeling better...wearing a size 10?????????OH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt need much conveincing...i was 296 pounds...double chin...fat face...i was disgusted with myself...i was convinced anything was better than living in that huge ...sloppy body...and i'm right!!!!!!!!!!! as far as complications...i consider mine to b the norm...if i eat to fast or dont chew good...yes i will pb...did i lose hair...yes and its now growing back...when ur morbidly obese there r far more complications!!!!!!!!!!

Hello makana, i too have had my band 3 years and i ws 96kg at the time and got down to 72kg at my lowest. i have since put on inthe past 21 months or so and are back to 85kg, and i feel like a failer big time. i do feel that i have just slipped back into my old patten and eat allt he time. my choise of food is wrong and i have to get myself out of this old habit. - intersting as i have only just started writing on this site, actually this would be my 3rd time, i have been just reading other peoples questions. yet tonight i felt i would reply to you, so i guess i too have to find that ( i feel good about myself ) again and get back on track. :) Happy days to you :)

    I just came back from my doctors visit. I am doing good lost 5 more pounds so a total of 25 pounds. When I said that I am totally empty that is the band is. I have my first fill on the 9 of June. He put me on soft food for 4 days than on reg. foods ofter that. How are you doing? I told my doctor that I am sleeping on my stomach and he said that it was ok. You said that one of your incisions was bulging, how is it doing now? Keep in touch.

  10. For the pureed diet, I would put chicken or beef into the blender with a little bit of broth. Then I added mashed potatoes with it. It tasted good. A lot of people thought it would be grosee, but it wasn't like a drink. It was tasty. Also try salmon or tuna. Adding mayo helps if not potatoes. Then eat yogurt or mashed bananas. I even put a hotpocket in the blender because I missed pizza so much. It didn't go down very well.

Thanks alot i used to like L/B i got alot of cute dresses and stuff a couple of yrs ago but now not so much i live in philly pa so i guess location means alot well i see my nurtionist on 18 and i only have to see them 1 and psyc evel and thanks it so ill see what the say and what program the put me on im still getting the same old food but not as much its like i mind is already doing smaller portion but the same old food after mday is my last taste of my fav than it time to get ready for the change

  12. Hi Kathy! I've been on real food since my post-op visit 2 weeks ago.

     

    Broth- I used Leana's (voiceomt2002) recipes for that and the soups I made. I've made several other of her recipes as well. She's writing a cookbook now!! have fun.

  13. It went really well! I was in pain for about four days, but I'm feeling much better now. My post OP diet is/was very flexible, so I was eating mushies and soft foods three days out with no problem. My doctor says I can start easing into a normal diet now, but I'm taking things slow. (: I've lost 9 pounds since Monday, and I hope to keep losing!

    How did yours go?

  14. First msg. dropped, Yeah over the hump again, I do believe that you will see even more loss after June fill, are the ml's on your ticker the same as cc's? I have a 10cc band and first fill was 4cc second was 1.75cc so now at 5.75cc total, 3rd scheduled for June 15, plateaus are scary, just came through 3 week one also, so down 3lbs today, you just know it will continue for a while if we eat healthy, cause a few times in there I was eating bunch of junk again, not quantity but real bad food choices! I am just speaking this into your life that by the time you hit your 2 year bandiversary you will be at your goal weight, don't doubt it!!!! Have fun on fill trip! Nancy

  15. Good Morning!! It was so good to hear from you!! I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago! My fill went really good, no pain at all but they only put in 2 cc's and the told me that I probably wouldn't feel any restriction and they were right, NO restriction at all !! But I'm not going to complain, I've lost a total of 34 pds. and that's not bad!! I also have a wedding coming up, June 13, my son, and I know there is going to be food to eat and I do want to enjoy this and not worry about getting sick if I do over do it!! I go for my next fill July 2 and maybe then I will feel some restriction!! How many fills have you had and when did you feel some restriction and how much have they filled you with? Well, I need to run, talk to a later!! Have a good long wkend!!! Sharon

    Sounds like a fantastic idea! How are things going for you? I'm thrilled with the weight loss and the fact that I get full so quickly, but I'm really jonesing for food--enough of the liquids already!

  17. I'm still doing good. Did finally have some gas pain on Wednesday and had some pretty uncomfortable moments, but today I'm not really sore, maybe a little around the port, but feeling really good. I was very tired after going back to work Thursday and Friday, would come home and crash for hours!

     

    I am on pureed foods now....I don't really get a full feeling from them, nor do I from liquids...so it's hard to keep from drinking a lot. But I'm not that hungry either, so it's okay.

     

    How's your sunburn?

    Well its taken a week but I feel great. I went for my 1 week postop and I lost 18lbs!!!!!! The food is starting to gross me out and I stare at people eat like a starving child but the weight loss is worth it.

    Any word from your insurance? I ended up calling myself to find out, why don't you try that.

Only one piece of wisdom...get that abdominal binder...it gets you sleeping back in your bed and n a normal position faster...I guess they sell them at Walgreens...you will be surprised how much gravity pulls on your gut. I guess you'll be getting one in surgery like i did though...unless it was somehow related to the hernia repair...who knows...ask him! All I can say is my mind is free of thoughts of food an anything (the $, the pain) is worth it...I know I will loosen up as I lose the intra abdominal fat but at least I know the good effects of having it snug!! I will be thinking of you on the 8th...you better keep me posted!

  20. i feel so much better.thank you. i am being extra careful in bed at night. i had the stitches that just disolve on the inside. my wounds look good. i just had some plain yogart , fun... is there a new scooby movie out? my son loves scooby as well. this weekend the new "night of the museum movie",opens up in the US, have to take the kids to see it. this is our memorial weekend holiday, when we pay tribute to the fallen soliders. so everyone has a barbecue , had to pass on some invites to avoid the yummie burgers and other food.

    soon you can have a cheese sandwich, would that be like a grilled cheese( melted cheese). bangle bracelet nice!

  21. Feeling good, healing up well, enjoying being active and exercising! I'm actually hungry now, yesterday was the first time I got hungry since surgery. I'm still on full liquids so there's not much thought involved with "eating" but it works. It's weird to not obsess over food, and it's a relief too!

     

    How are you doing with your progress toward bandhood?

  22. Thanks a bunch! I know exactly how you feel. I go through the same thing sometimes. You definitely have to exercise and you must watch what you eat. That's basically what I'm doing. Try to get in as much cardio as possible. Stay away from fried foods, bread, rice, sugar...that's my best advice. What exactly are you doing? Do you feel restriction? I am up to 7.3 cc's and I think I need more.

  24. I thought this was going to be really tough not eating "real food". This protein/clear liquids is not driving me nuts yet. My mind wants food when I cook for my lil girl and honey but I dont. Good thing cause my doc wants me doing it for 3 weeks. I guess its all worth it to watch those numbers on the scale keep dropping.

  25. Well I was banded Wednesday and I have been in so much pain and havent been able to get anything down but a little water and a few sips of broth I really hope this is all worth it! Im so dreaming about some yummy food right now....
