  1. Glad your feeling better. I am still sore around my belly button where my port is placed and JUST found out that i am extra sore due to the doctor not informing me or my cousin who was at the hospital to pick me up that I had a hernia repair. I found that out by looking at my claims....since I work at Anthem I am able to see the claims first hand. Anyway, I am on regular foods. I only was instructed to do liquid for 24 hours after surgery, then a week on soft foods, then back to normal foods. I can't wait to get my 1st fill next Wednesday as I can eat a pig right now, lol! I mean I have no restrictions and I stay hungry since my band is empty and the swelling is apparently gone down.

  2. How about trying some baby food?

  3. My hunger is awful. I never expected that. However, the doc (and other bandsters' docs) apparently think it's OK to eat as much as we need of the full liquids to keep hunger down. Mine said the three meals a day only applies to more solid foods. So, I'm not messing around with it anymore and will eat liquids whenever I'm hungry. Heck, two ounces of liquid is only a few calories and I don't see how we couldn't lose weight on a 500 calorie diet! I'm on to mushies next Tuesday. I can't wait!!

  4. I'm great how are you? My progress is good for right now, I have been slacking on going to the gym. Don't be concerned!! The first 30-45 days you should focus more on following the doctor's diet and healing...weight loss during that time is just a bonus. Weight fluctuates constantly, I recommend weighing only every week or so. Your fills are more about how food moves through the band and not your weight...just talk to your doc about your concerns. Congrats on your loss so far!!

  5. Hey Jeri,

Well I survived!, banded on 2/18, I was sore and had a hard time waking up post op and getting up to walk. once drugs wore off I was better, I woke up with a fat lip don't know what happened in surgery but it will go down, now 5 days post op I am up and about, it hurts when I have a burp or cough, want to take in soft foods but don't dare, afraid of getting stuck, what type of food did you eat, have any good ideas?

  6. Thanks for posting on my pic. I don't really know if it is a key but what I have done is watched what I eat ( which at times can be hard) and I work out 2 times a day 5 times a week. I don;t drink soda nor eat any kind of fried food. I use to be the fried food king thats all I would eat thats why I jumbo up to 416. Now I don't miss it and don't really crave it. If you have any more questions feel free to hit me up.

  7. I am sooooo proud of you!! Do you think I can call the dressing room a work out LOL. I mean it really was... You so inspire me. I am always attracted to the positive people on this site. Thank you so much you have a gift and you inspire. Best wishes on your journey. I am on vacation in Vermont and I can't wait to go home and make my own food. Eating out is so stressful and I always make the wrong choice. I need to get focused. Thanks imaluckydog Kathy

  8. Today was my first day that I felt something remotely normal. Had more energy and felt good for most of the day. Maybe tomorrow you'll feel good. I too, am supposed to be on the liquid diet, but I had a bit of oatmeal for breakfast - it went down no problem but I had an upset stomach later on in the day - not sure if its related or not. To date, pre-surg diet and after being banded, I've lost 15 pounds. I had hoped for more, but its a good start. I make a point of drinking three protein shakes a day and the ones I chose seems to have a lot of carbs, calories, and sugar - may have to rethink those. I am getting bored though, I even have food fantasies and that is bad. I know I need to get a grip. Like you I am trying to get to know the site. I pretty much respond to threads in our group, reply to recent blog postings and respond to messages like yours. I'm hoping in time I get better with this because I really enjoy the conversations. I hope you start getting back to normal really soon.

  9. hey girl ineed serious help im gaining wt i gained 15 lbs i 2 moths my dr said that i shouldnt be on a constant diet with the band to loose wt but that is what i have been doing for over a year with exercise.i had a fill i am @7.3ccs.really depressed about this.on a liquid/puree diet for today.

  10. I am not sure if I am getting enough in. I dont keep track. I am so busy. Do you belong to a gym because I go to planet fitness. Please send me that info you were talking about. BTW- How much grams of protien should I be having? I do make sure I eat foods with protien at every meal but daily I just dont keep track of how many grams I am intaking.

  11. Your not suppose to drink while you eat. I dont try to drink anything for at least an 1hr sometimes longer than that. Whenever you drink while you eat it washes your food through your pouch

  12. Correct, depending on your size - I weighed about 280 and mine was about an hour.

There is a combination of soreness and discomfort, a lot of which is dealing with your own mind. I had a fear of hurting myself so I was afraid to sit up.

Actually diet before surgery was important for me because I had a fatty liver so losing some weight before hand helps shrink the size of the liver and makes it easier for them to work on me. The diet before consisted of high protein shakes, broths and non-starchy vegetables. From the reading I've been doing every doctor varies so if they didn't mention it, it is probably not necessary.

After surgery, I have two week liquid, then move on to purees for another two weeks, then soft foods. So your six weeks seems normal to me.

    Hope this is helpful.

  13. As of yet it hasn't been hard or a challenge with food if that is what you mean, and maybe because of my fear of the band. I have cooked for my family and it does not tempt me at all. Sat. i start puree foods so i am excited about that.

  14. hello jessiap, i am doing pretty well just a little sore but that is it. Thank you for asking, truly can't wait for stage 2 food wise!!

  15. I am slowly starting to understand my addiction to food. It is really upsetting, but I know that surgery does not fix everything and that I will have to be aware of my addition for the rest of my life.

  16. Hello luckyinlove, Yes I am eating regular food now, I just started my 6th week and the list of foods they tell you to eat it is very important to follow those guidelines. My first week on liquids were fairly easy, second week on full liquids was pretty cool but weightloss came to a standstill (was only eating around 500 cals a day that wk) and a little head hunger. At my two week post op appt. they moved me to pureed and 900-1000 cals (be sure to count). I have loss 16 pounds in 5 wks. Started at 246 at initial consult, 239 day of surgery and 222.8  to date. I am so so happy at 41 years old, no kids but hope to start trying at my 1 year bandiversay. Feel free to ask me any questions, would love to help. I learned a lot from this forum but do not dwell on the negativity on the forum, stay positive and you will succeed.

  17. Hi Chris, I read your blog about your fill, and I couldn't comment, but I wanted to tell you that you are not wrong for doing what your doing!!! Don't let people put you down on your attempts at a healthier life!!! I do however feel you need to cut the fast food, and start working on your diet. I had my surgury Feb. 10th and have lost 40lbs and no fills yet. I just cut out all that bad stuff and became active. Have you tried support groups in your area? Well if you ever want advice or help, you can ask I will help!!!

  18. Your doing so well with your weight loss. I could use some advice from you. I have read many different blogs and many people are not eating "regular" food. I see that you are eating about 1/2 cup of food. Are you eating regular type foods but in smaller amounts? You are doing so well I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Thanks. I am going to be banded next Monday.

  19. I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery was postponed. I'll pray that you get healthy enough real soon to be rescheduled.

As for my post-op plan, it's six weeks of full liquids. No mushy stage and right into regular food at week 7. Very tough to be sure and I'm not aware of anybody else on this board who has such a post-op diet. My doc is unique I guess.

When will you know about rescheduling?

  20. Yes PC is hot in the Summers and sometimes the sweltering Hot is too much when you are not use to it, I too love the AC on the hottest of days, right now the beach breeze blows away the heat, that is a great way to get a sunburn, cause you don't know you are getting the heat, loved it grew up here all my life, lived in Hawaii once, but would not trade these Panhandle Beaches for those in Hawaii, love the pure crystal white beaches we have here. Have a great day, down two lbs already! Yeah!

  21. Hi.....Well, let me see, this is how it went down. I got a fill 1/2 a cc, that was too much, so they took out .25....So far I've been good, but today I had a BAD episode. It all started when we went to the mall to eat at the food court, SARKU. I had chicken and veggies, but that was giving me trouble, but didn't throw up or anything. Then for dinner my husband wanted pizza so I had two small slices on my plate and couldn't even get through one before I had the MAJOR problem!!!!! It was bad! I'm ok now though! Good luck and don't worry! I'm sure you'll be fine. Right now I'm between 175 and 176 and I really need to get down to 140, but I've been maintaining and not losing! SHEESH!

  22. Oh, my gosh....it is so nice to see someone else with the same history!!! Seriously...no one ever believes you that you work out when you work out a ton...or you don't love food b/c you are a fatty! It is so frustrating!!! But...it is nice to know someone else wiht the same problem and that being banded helped you. I just got accepted into the 6 month program through my insurance so that they pay for it....it is so frustrating....b/c I can't lose any weight on it....or else they will kick me out....so it seems kind of pointless...and I'd rather just get on with it! I'm so jealous of all of the skinny people on here! I want that SO much.....Anyway, thanks for all of your inspiration!! Keep posting the pics!!

  23. I'm doing pretty good can't complain much!! I just wish all reports were done & submitted to my dr.s office so they can submit it to my insurance already!! The wait is going to drive me insane gurl!! Wowwwwwwwww!!1 Way to go on the 10 lbs!! Your weight loss will pick up again walking is good you will be amazed by how fast 20 mins go by. If you have a Wii try the fitness games they are really good from what I read & friends that I know have it has helped them lose quite a bit of weight all the while, while having fun. Puree food is not really that bad if you like progresso soups try them their not bad when you puree them in a blender. You can also add an unflavored protein to it also to make sure you get enough protein in.....

  24. hiiii I am doing okay, finally not sore. I have lost 10 lbs since the surgery but its kinda stopped now. today my dr started me on puree foods which is pretty nasty LOL but I am going to start walking tomorrow, 20 mins a day because I have yet to start excersizing, hope it helps. how are you???

  25. Hey! Believe me.... cheating is on the brain!! I actually met with the surgeon today and she said i could move on if I am really that hungry but she preferred if I waited and went with the program guidelines. I actually feel better today. Not so hungry. Plus, i went to work to try and get my mind of food! Its helping. Well, hang in there!! ttyl!
