Strict insurance pre approval process

I purchased all my samples, nothing was over 20. unjury directly from their site they send 2 of each flavor and a little gift , sytrax you can email them or go to smart bodynutruion.com (ill clarify the site name ) I think I paid 15-19 for 15 flavors. genepro from their site they don't send much.
2. Hello all! It's normal to be nervous. As long as you follow your surgeon and NUT's instructions you will be fine. July 31st is my 1 year anniversary. I've lost 100 pounds. I would like to lose another 10 pounds but I'm happy either way. I feel better and have a lot more confidence. I was out of work for 2 weeks and 3 days. I had gastric sleeve, my gallbladder removed and a hiatal hernia. The health benefits outweigh the risk. Good luck ladies.
3. Im so happy 4 u! I just completed my sleep study this morning. All I have left on my to do list is a meeting with my pcp next week a ekg on the 24th and my last nut appointment on the 25th. Im hoping to get sleeved by my birthday also which is 10/22! Im also having my surgery at U of C by doctor Pratchand.

Banded 10/22/2009

Hi Guys!!! I too was banded on 10/22...........I was in surgery for an hour and a half, and I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and didn't leave the ICU for 2 hours after my surgery, and than I had a very low heart rate. They almost kept me over, but they let me go home later that night. That was my biggest issue.....it is such a big adjustment! I have had one fill and I am up to 6 cc's. I started at 4 cc's after the surgery. I started at 279 pre-op and I am now 236.5 post op!!! WAHOO 43 LBS!!! I feel like after reading other people's blogs that I haven't lost real well, but I guess any weight loss is good!!! I go for my second fill on the 21st of Dec, and I am excited to start to feel some restriction!!! Hope all you OCTOBER BANDSTERS are doing great!!!
5. Yes! Don't give up! Restriction is just around the corner. I had a little restriction after surgery, and a bit more after the first fill. Now I have 7 CCs in a 10 CC band and, for me, it is perfect. It is like the difference between night and day. NOW I feel like I actually have a Lap-Band. Now I don't think I should stop eating. I simply can't eat anymore. After, for example, half a sandwich I'm full. I chew pretty thoroughly and I start to slow down between bites about halfway through my 1/2 sandwich (or whatever). In that waiting time between bites, I can feel whether or not it's okay to take another bite. When it's time to stop I can tell. If I don't stop at that point, I will get a very sharp pain in my chest. If I go past that (which has only happened once or twice), then it gets really gross. Sliming, etc. You can read all about that on this forum. But the big deal for me is that it's not hard to stop eating when it's time. I'm full, I feel good. I'm done. That old drive to overeat no matter what the cost doesn't come into play. It's a different sensation, and for me, right now anyway, it's working great. I've had good restriction for about 5 weeks and I couldn't be happier with it. Good luck to you!
6. Let's see, aside from all the basic stuff here's what else I found made it easier for me... I went alone and thought that worked out really well. I made friends with the other patient arriving that day and her daughter and it was really nice. We had dinner together at the hotel the night before. I felt like I had a support system but didn't have to worry about someone else getting bored or having to talk if I didn't want to. I wish I'd taken my swimsuit. It was really hot and the pool was cool and lovely. I dangled my legs but I would have loved to have an hour or two of floating around on the hotel night. I took some Special K Protein Water packets to add to my water on the way home. They were good. I think just the regular Crystal Light is even better but it was nice to get a little protein in. In my room the extra chair was small and uncomfortable. Took me awhile to figure out there were better chairs. When I did I switched to a big comfy recliner and it was so much more comfortable than the hospital bed. I put Skype on my laptop and my iPhone and the prepaid $10. I made tons of calls and shared my phone with my friends and still only used about $3. Calls home otherwise would have been at least 99 cents a minute. I got a simple Nancy Drew Dossier game to play on my pc. It was easy enough that I didn't need much brain power but it really passed the time. I downloaded a few TV shows to my iPhone for the ride home. That was great, I was so anxious to get home and Drop Dead Diva and Royal Pains really helped make the flight go quicker. I didn't need a wheelchair on the San Diego side because it was such a short walk to the gate. But I prearranged for one on the Seattle side and was really glad I did - it would have been a really long walk and it had already been a very long day. Nobody told me that the spinal block would make peeing a little weird. I took me awhile to figure it out, I was worried at first. I bought just one extra Nexium. They don't taste too bad but I'm glad I only bought one and can switch to pills later this week as per Gaby (at Dr. Aceves' office). I wish I'd thought to ask for another prescription of Toradol. I can't remember what the Mexican name for it is but they give you a small box to take home. It's a little pain killer that goes under your tongue. I had a really stiff neck for several days after I got home and it worked better than anything without making me drowsy. I didn't have any surgery pain but it was super for my neck. Buy some surgical gauze and a surgical no leak pad and tape before you go. My mom got me some and I really needed it for the first 4-5 days. I leaked out of my drain incision a lot. It would drench my clothes. The pads kept me dry then if I was home I'd air it out a bit. I don't know what I would have done without that stuff. Make sure you brush your teeth with bottled water and not tap water in the hospital. Shower and walk. You'll feel better. I used airmiles and flew home first class. I'm sure I would have been fine in coach but it was so nice to have the extra space and more comfortable seat. Make sure you write down the name of the person you want them to call when you're out of surgery on a separate sheet of paper and hand it in with your other paperwork. I thought just writing it in the paperwork was enough but nobody ever called my husband so he had to wait, worrying, until I was able to call at 6pm that night. Rest, relax, and don't hesitate to ask for what you need. They are great at the hospital - they are happy to help and don't get impatient. My experience was really as good as everyone said it'd be and I'm really happy I finally went with Dr. Aceves. I'm almost a month out and down 20lbs. I have lots of energy, am never hungery, and am just super happy to have my sleeve. A far cry than my miserable old band.

Post -Op time off work?

I planned to go back 10 days (calendar days) after surgery. I am pretty hardy usually but the surgery, adjusting to eating, and need for afternoon naps made it too hard. I went back at 18 days and felt like that was soon enough. It was nice to take a little time to adjust to my new life with out a lot of onlookers. I have had very few if any bumps in the road. I am at 12 weeks.

Starving!!!

Pray and be patient. You had this surgery for change but you must do your part. I had the surgery Dec. 10, 2010. I am not per say hungry but I think the mind and stomach play against one another. When you feel hungry are you hungry or is your mind saying boy im hungry. I try and feel my time working or thinking about other things. I eat my share of sugar free fruit bars they really help. How much have you lost thus far. I weighed in yesterday and I have lost between 9-10lbs.... I'm excited and with results like this I care nothing about food or eating. I know the liquids get old but it's all worth it in the end.... Stay strong you can defeat this ugly monster named hungerB)

Green's grumblings

I married one who is just younger enough than me to not kick the bucket before me. (You know how women supposedly outlive their men.) Green if mine was 9 or 10 years younger than me right about now he'd be looking for replacement material. Of course when I become svelt again, Katie bar the door! (An old Okie term for you Soviet Canuckistanians.)

Little Acheivements are the best

- sit cross legged on the floor! - fit in an airplane seat without an extender! Even have 6-10 inches of belt left over - walk for miles and miles - literally chase my husband when he is being sassy and catch him! He doesn't like this one much because I can and do catch him! - keep up with my family on vacations - run up and down the stairs without keeling over huffing and puffing - do an hour of cardio and feel fantastic afterwards I could go on and on!

Tampa Fl Area?

Hi girls I live in Northern Pasco County on 10 acres. I am born and raised in pinellas county. It is very beautiful yet full of traffic and homes close together. Its a rat race! I love where I live now. I live near Land O lakes that area is modest as well as Trinity a newer area being built up. I am closing on my own short sale this week. I am hopefully getting sleeved next month! I am very excited that this is happening! PM me if you have questions about the area I know a lot!
12. I did the preop liquid diet for over two weeks and it went ok. I didn't cheat, just kept focused on the prize and did fine. I had surgery 10/27/09 and will be on this same liquid diet for 4 weeks. But I really am not that hungry right now, just trying to get the water and vitamins in along with the other liquids. You can do it! Jan:thumbup:

Injecting Blood Thinner Post Op

Yes I did the same thing but for 10 days....it is to avoid emboli risk !!
15. So I wanted to update everyone. I am actually 29 years old. Great guesses out there!! The reason I asked, is because my entire life people have always thought I was at least 10-15 years older than I am. Since I have lost weight, I get a lot of the opposite, which is an entirely new feeling. Thank you so much for playing <3 So about a year ago, I posted on a few different forums asking how old people thought I was. Now I am 9 months post op, I wonder how I look age - wise now. If you know my age, please don't spoil it. I will post my age after I get an idea from people. Thanks for playing. Be honest.

Sorry it is sideways. I have no idea why it does that.

Weight Training After VSG

Hey T.C. I'm eight weeks post-op (gastric bypass) and I've started working out. I'm 65. Have no blood pressure/cholesterol issues-thankfully! My starting weight before surgery was 311. I'm now 270 -in just 8 weeks. I'm super excited about that. What I would suggest since your calorie level is so low is to do a 30-minute walking routine. Once you start with solid food, I would then up the work out to a non-stop work out. To give you some idea, here's what I do. Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Warm-up (that time doesn't count against my total allotted time) When I feel warmed up, I work upper body with a weight that I can handle and I do around 3 to 4 sets of each body part with 12-14 reps per set. As I add weight, I drop my reps by two. So: 14, 12, 10 etc. Right after I've done my sets, I hit a heavy bag for 3 minutes and then immediately go to my upper body routines. No resting. That's the key part. Tuesday, Thursday: I do cardio only...Seven minutes on a treadmill with a pretty steep incline and a higher pace...then hit the heavy bag for another 3 minutes and then go right back to the treadmill. You're probably wondering why I don't work legs. At my age, I have to bum knees and don't want to do too much to aggravate them. Not to mention, four months ago I had a total shoulder replacement and so the weight training works perfectly with my shoulder rehab. I hope that helps!
18. I am 10 Days post op. I am starved!! I want mashed potatoes so bad I dream of them....ha ha! Not really but think of them probably more often than the normal Joe. I go to the Dr for my follow up on the 28 th. By then I will be 12 days out and praying he let's me have mushies. I am so so sick of soup!!! Broth!!! And Crystal light. Any more ideas on mushies besides mashed potatoes? I am sure that will get old just as quick as the broth and soups. And this is the best site!! I love all the support and knowing someone's out there going through the same challenges or has been there. Thanks so much!!

I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma

Hi Oakie!! Shirley here, I'll touch on some things. First of all I had my Date with a Band on 10/31/06. You got it Halloween. So I am 21 days post op. So,, since it's all new to me to, I can share what I no.... Get a good protien Drink. I go on ebay and buy the Muscle Milk Light. I no it looks expensive,,, but, if you compare it to the health stores!! Your gonna get a buy. 25g of protien vs. 195 in calories is great, and it's delicious. I use that and C.I.B. but by the time you get done fooling around , addind calories to the C.I.B.,, well you could be looking at about the same in calories,, but 10-12 in protien. You really need the protien for healing to. I am suppose to take in 80g of protien a day, and try to stay between 700-900 calories a day. That's easy with the M.M.L., that's why I mention it. Stock up on sugar free puddings. They come in handy only 60 or 70 calories. They are great if you have to crunch meds. Mix them on top only, eat the pills "yuk!" then you can treat yourself to the remainder of the pudding. Get some cream of soups so you don't get to hungry, last take it slow. It took a while to get this way, It's gonna take a while for it to change. Get back if you want.. "I have been born again, and this time, I will be a whole lot thinner!" Shirley. sstasevich@woww
20. Had no idea that it had flipped. Went for 2nd fill and after 10 pokes, sent me for fluro and it was flipped completely over. He was really upset b/c with it stitched down it should not have done that. He wasn't mad at me, he was mad at himself. I see him for follow up tomorrow so maybe he can tell me more, like did all the stitches go or what.
21. I have lost more than 100 pounds 3 times since puberty, each time maintaining for a year or so then gaining it all plus some back in a relatively short amount of time. I am the classic yo-yo'er been all the way up to 351 and all the way down to 145. Lost 135 the first time my junior year of high school, gained 150 back at 19, lost 120 at 21 gained it all back plus some at 23, lost 100 at 25, and gained it back in 6 months or so continued to gain until last fall when I got my first appointment for dr supervised diet, lost and gained back the same 12 pounds until surgery in April. I am 28 now, and down 71 pounds since surgery on April 25th....I am working this tool
22. Okay folks...I am picky...PICKY  about protien. Here are my choices... I LOVE :huggie: Max Muscle's MaxPro Banana!! I put in a tablespoon of Peanut Butter and blend it in the blender and I could live off this stuff! It has 30 grams of the good protien, 120 calories, 0 carbs and 0 sugar, 1 fat. With the Peanut butter added it is about 36 grams of protien and 210 calories, 7 fat. It cost $29.99 for 2lbs ($57.99 for 4lbs) at the Max Muscle store where I live and has 26 servings (or 52). It is $37.99 online though but worth it. My sister adds a bit of sugar free chocolate syrup to hers. My choice for ready to drink is  Oh Yeah's Cookies and Cream, Vanilla Creme, and strawberry Creme. I buy those at the Max Muscle store too because they give you a 10% discount for buying 12 or more. Cost $37.99 for 12. They have 32 grams of protien, 4 carbs, 3 sugar, but have 9 grams of fat so they are more of a Meal Replacement. They sell them at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, and almost every other place around. My other choice for ready to drink is the Believe Mocha Latte, Italian Cappicino, and Chai Tea from Bariatriceating.com but I don't buy them much because while they cost about the same as the Oh Yeah's (12 for 39.99)the shipping is CRAZY  at $15 to California! They are DELICIOUS though and you have no idea you are getting in 18 grams of protien!!! You can also buy the Oh Yeah's there but why would you pay for shipping when they are carried at almost every nutrition shop around.
23. I'm scheduled for 7/19 at Lovelace also! Dr. Smith is doing mine. I go to Abq Wednesday for my pre-op appts. So what does the preop diet consist of? Who is doing your surgery? What insurance company do you have? I have Lovelace and we have weighed the pros/cons and have decided to do self-pay. 3 weeks from today :scared2:
24. just the fat friend lmao love it.... Cheri, not harsh at all... it is the truth. I have PCOS and its damaged me... so when my "friend" of 10 years saw that I got my teeth bleached, lazer hair removal on my face and planning surgery, in addition to loosing 60 lbs on my own.... she was spitting bullets. So instead of being happy for me, she started making snyde comments. If I asked her where she got a shirt, she would say "Express... but they only go up to a size large" even though I can wear a large from Express! She would just say things to bring me down.... and it worked. I feel alot better now that I don't have her abuse in the back of my head screwing with my thoughts. I call girls like her "Alpha Females".... they always have to be the leader, always have to feel superior, and always have to look better and have it better than you in life.

April 2006 Bandiversary!!

Well, I am going to chime in on these great questions! What is your "Bandiversary" goal? I don't think I had one, but if I had to say, it would be to be to be only 10 lbs to goal. What have you learned this past year? That I am strong, that it is possible, that the weight did not define me, but it did change me, that I can be proud with being ego drivenand... that the support of those you love is the most important part of this entire equation. Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? Wow... there have been so many buying jeans at GAP being hit on at restaurants being told that I have the vitals of an athlete running my 5 k race being asked to leave a support group, because it was for those with weight concerns (I had to explain) a colleague not recongnizing me... the best... my daughter telling me how fun it is to go sliding together What is your biggest challenge? not being over confident not spending too much money on new clothes (my latest addiction) What tips would you pass on to the April 2007 newbies? think of your band like a tool that will support you follow the rules add exercise when you think you can and know that you are human and we all make poor choices at times What is your greatest fear? gaining weight changing me too much people treating me differently What goals do you have for the future? get to the weight I am happy with run a 5 k in under 35 minutes keep running How has your life changed? wow... is there enough room to list them all??? easily buying clothes I like getting a taxi has never been easier I feel more comfortable in my body physically I can do what I want now without having to worry Has living with the band met up to your expectations? exceeded If you could talk to yourself a year ago, what would you say? It's okay... you will make this journey, you are ready to be in this place, it is where you are supposed to be... and you will be supported and you will be proud Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/191/179 exercise this month= 22
