Dr. Joseph Manuele - New here .. Just banded
tlewis3711 replied to vinee's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my band surgery on 3/18/11 by Dr. Manuele. He has been fantastic and I could not have found a better DR. I got my first fill today and things are going great. I would love to keep in touch so we can compare notes. This is my 2 post so I am not a pro at this but I will try to keep an eye out for you. -
Dr. Todd Belott - Great Doctor
mommie2 replied to Moemoe455's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Congrats Moemoe455 on getting banded tommorrow. Dr Belott is a wonderful doctor, very thorough and honest. Karen is also very helpful and she's easy to talk to. He did my surgery a year ago today also at West Jefferson. As of my weigh in 2 weeks ago I was down 112 pds. and have no regrets. I still have about 130 more to go. Good Luck tommorrow. -

Surgery Postponed - Emotional Wreck?
catwoman7 replied to daynuhlicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
a week is nothing, really. Lots of people on here had theirs postponed for months because of COVID. That week should go by quickly... -
Christmas Eve. I've got a killer headache again. Funny, I get it right after I walk. I wonder if there is a coninsidence? TERRIBLE eating today!! For breakfast I had 2 Krispy Kremes and a Poorboy sandwich!! I'm really regreting it, though, cuz it made me nausous and I'm burping garlic to the max. Ick. Couldn't even think about lunch because I was so full from breakfast. I did my 50 minutes of walking, and went 2.0 mph today- much higher than the past week. I also did my streches for what it's worth. I didn't feel much of a strech on most of them i think cuz i'm so heavy. i MIGHT do strength training tonight if i can get rid of this headache. want to open presents soon, but i feel so lousy just not in the mood. i took a tylenol with codiene, but they didn't work last night. i hope it will work today. dean and jerry are both sick, too. i'm just worried about dean with his lungs. we increased his flovent to 3 puffs a day until he can get rid of the cough. i pray he gets better soon.

Surgery Postponed - Emotional Wreck?
daynuhlicious posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So I just got the call today that my surgery was going to have to be postponed a week due to the surgeons availability/schedule. Instead of July 6th, it will be July 14th. I didn't realize I was so attached to the original date. I'm sitting here silently crying because it got moved a week. When I was speaking to the scheduler on the phone, I literally felt my stomach drop when she said it. Instant depression. Can one grieve a literal DATE for something like a surgery??? I'm all kinda in my emotions and it feels really weird because of the reason why. For anyone who might have experienced a postponement - is this normal? -
I have my surgery on 03/28/14 I found out maybe 3 weeks ago that in pregnant. I'm 7 weeks now I was happy because me and my husband had such a hart time getting pregnant. My Gyn said do t worry everything will be find. Yesterday I went to my Follow up with the Surgeon his nurse told me that me I should consider my as high risk pregnancy now I'm worry. I have horrible nausea and vomiting but for my first miracle baby she going to be 2 yrs old. I was like that I vomit everything I had for dinner or lunch. I put everything in god hand.

I just had my evaluation about a week ago. They ask about your history with weight, support, how you plan to be successful, why you want surgery, etc. My Dr. asked what sort of things am I going to do post surgery that I don't or can't do now. The whole session lasted about 45 minutes. He also added some good advice about eating habits and how to be successful. It wasn't as useless as I thought it was going to be going in.

Is it realy only the first few weeks the hardest time and then it gets much bette?
Magician44 replied to 22pix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with u Terri. I'm a month post op and one day too. The most difficult thing it's listening too ur body. There are a few things that have help me: A) grab very small bites ( the size of the tip of my small finger, I would say). Chew my food a lot. Sometimes I swallow 2-3 times in one bite. C) wait about 1 min between bites. D) I stop eating when I start to burp or hip cup. This is the way my stomach tells me "no more food please" Eating take me about 1/2 an hour. Good luck in your journey -

Seems like enough to me but honestly, my doctor said try to get the Protein in...so I drink a Protein shake every morning..although I feel I eat a lot and I eat what I want but it is usually healthy I haven't gained a pound and I am 25 weeks...so I would keep a book of what you eat and talk to you doctor about the amount of food your taking in..only he/she can tell you if your eating enough..and if you don't eat enough your baby will get the nutrients from you regardless...congrats  Also keep taking your prenatal Vitamins, I actually take extra folic acid but you have to talk to your doctor about that..

Hey! Im Jewels. How are you all? I live in Philadelphia, and have just swithced insurance's so that I can get the lap band done. Ive been on the forum's for about 2 weeks now. Ive read alot of posts and do everyday. A little about me: Im 5'3 - 205 lbs - I have a lower BMI of 36.3. I have an appointment with Dr.Kowalski on Tuesday of this week. (11/17/08) I think I may have sleep apnea, but the receptionist told me that even if I dont my insurance (Keystone Health Plan East) is very easy to get an approval from and that she has seen people with bmi's of 35 get approved with no co morbid's. Which I do not have - I dont have the traditional co morbid's. The doc I have chosen does consider knee joint pain and low back pain a co morbid and my insurance doesnt have any requirements except it being med nec. So I think I have a good shot of having it approved. Im super nervous, but super exicted! Has anyone here seen Dr Kowalski? Or is anywhere from the Philly area? Any tips or pointers? Hope to hear from you all!

Extremely Nervous About Upcoming Sleeve Surgery On 5/21/12.
cookie2012 replied to banksdea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations to all of us who have been sleeved or yet to have our operations!!! My surgery is in 2 weeks and I am also going up and down but I'm mostly up and think of the things that will give me pleasure again such as exercising, shopping for clothes and wearing jeans. I can't wait!! I am feeling excited about never having to "diet" again - think of all the time and money we will have for other things! -

It's okay to have doubts before surgery. It is elective surgery so you have the choice. You can choose to something that will forever change your life for the better! Is it easy? Nope! Not at first. My first 3 months were a bit rough but each day got better and better and staying on this board helped tremendously! This will be the best decision you can make for yourself! Soon you will be laughing at all those diet commercials! -
Extremely Nervous About Upcoming Sleeve Surgery On 5/21/12.
carriecat replied to banksdea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you to everyone who has responded. I've calmed down a ton! My nerves are mostly that I won't wake up. I have had multiple surgeries (I'm a klutz), and I've always been fine with anesthesia. Even my husband says I could administer my own. I guess it's just because the kids are growing up and I'm just afraid. I have a lot of support, and I know this is the best thing for me. I'm super excited. The 2 week low cal diet is hard, total shock to my body. I'm not used to eating so little! Of course, that's what got me in this mess in the first place! So, I just wanted to thank you all for your support and advice. I will have pictures up so we can all see how much better I look after a while! Good luck everyone! -
i dont want to scare you but im planing a funneral for a helthy therty year old less then a week after surgery

I totally agree with you. Omg! I read and read and read, and still feel like I'm going to fail. But I've read good and bad but u have to listen to your heart and body. The mind is tricky but think strong. Today my hubby bought McDonald's for Breakfast. I smelled it smelled so good. All I got was a snack size parfait to eat for a snack later today, but I'm trying to control it now before my pre-op next week. Good luck to u! Keep us posted. Two years of reading should guide u on your journey for Monday!

Dr. Schrope Nyc Anyone?
JerseyGirl68 replied to Luckystar12's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I do, November 6. I started my pre-op last week. So far so good. -
I think the first thing you need to do is not go forward with the thinking that you will never have a certain food again! Yes we have to change our ways after surgery but I am able to eat a little bit of anything! I don't normally, but if there is a special occasion or meal I can have a treat sometimes. As far as the food funerals??? When I knew I had a date I went to the store before my pre op and picked up a pint of some kind of ice cream (can't even remember the flavor how sad) went home and ate half of it that night and finished it the next day.. After I ate it?? Nothing, it was just gone it didn't feel special it didn't make me feel better, in fact it did nothing for me except make me feel crappier about myself. And added to the weight I needed to lose.. Fast forward to today, I can eat normal again so if I wanted a bit of ice cream I could. So I guess what I'm saying is don't sabotage yourself with thoughts of "I need to eat this now because I can never have it again" Oh the pre op diet Zare will take care of that for you and provide the shakes, it's two weeks I think? You will go through all of the stages of food after that he has spelled out for you. Now I'm on all foods but I eat a lot different than I used too. Mostly Protein and veggies. No more rice bread and Pasta..
