Need your help! Not your criticism :)

Hi There! What I think you need to do is start logging in your food, your exercise, your water. I think that you probably need to revise your diet, remove lots of carbs and put back in lean proteins. Try to get all your steps in and keep the water up. For me I have bacon and cheese for breakfast, I have homemade low carb chili, butter chicken or teriyaki chicken then for lunch and dinner (and the mid meals). I get at least 64oz of water in and try to walk at least 8K steps. You need to restrict calories, remove carbs, increase water and walking. Good luck, I know this isn't easy and I hope this helps!!!
  2. @@James Marusek My ticker is correct. This isn't my first WLS rodeo, revision from sleeve. Ticker was started back when I was venturing for the last WLS. Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement! I actually had a bloodwork up completed this morning, as I am seeing the surgeons office on Friday. We shall see.
  3. Unless they are bought in by the original surgeon to consult surgeons seldom touch another surgeons work, the liability it too high. They would lose their malpractice insurance. When you see a surgeon for a second opinion you have to sign all sorts of agreements A few years ago our contractor was arrested ( ended up getting 30 years in prison for child abuse, his wife got 24 years) a theory for another time and another thread. He was a good carpenter who did excellent work but the day the police came for him the central chimney was halfway knocked out, all the siding was off one side of out house and five of the seven Windows where completely out and the only the studs and framing where done on the 2nd floor dormer. We had paid $35,000 of the $50,000 total and they probably spent close to $35,000 on salaries and building supplies. We had to hire other contractors to finish and everyone of then insisted on partially deconstructing the house to inspect it before they would work on it. We ended up suspending $85,000 for $40,000 in improvements. Doctors have a lot more invested in their careers they don't take risks. As for the OP, I am hoping that Runaround Sue will research her options and realize she has the tool and doesn't need a revision.

I gained back the weight after VSG

He will consult with me regarding nutrition but not regarding a revision. His representative said they will only do revisions if you live in Dallas. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  5. He will consult with me regarding nutrition but not regarding a revision. His representative said they will only do revisions if you live in Dallas. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App I'm willing to bet they didn't disclose that little tidbit when they were signing you up for self pay surgery either! I'm sorry, that sucks. Have you tried any of the other Dallas surgeons? I know you are out of state, but we have lower prices here than many places. I used Nicholson Clinic for my sleeve (not a revision). I know they do revisions, maybe check with them? Ps You have every right to pursue this with medical professionals. Some of the newly-sleeved like to preach. 6. Today is my first day of the 2 week pre-op diet leading up to my surgery on December 12th in Puerto Vallarta. I had a chocolate unjury shake for Breakfast, baked fish and veggies for lunch and I'll have a strawberry Unjury shake for supper. And tons of Water of course but I always drink a lot of water. I'm already quite hungry, but I'm still going strong. Lol. I'm open to any advice to help the 2 weeks a little easier. This is a revision (band to sleeve) surgery so I should be used to the pre-op diet but nothing prepares my tummy for the drop in calories. I hope everyone else is doing well on their diets. Kelly
  7. I had a revision from band to sleeve on 10/17. Recovery has been very smooth since I have already had experience with the full liquids diet and transitioning to soft foods. I get the same "soft sign" to stop eating as I did with the band, a hiccup. Haven't vomited or been nausested at all. I chew my food to smithereens! I haven't had any reflux and continue on carafate and prilosec. No problems getting about 70 Gm of Protein in with one Protein shake and the foods I consume. Have lost 27# since my pre-op diet and am at 184 # now, 4 weeks out. I think my weight loss will be much better with the sleeve than with the band, and no more fills and unfilled! I'm so glad I made the conversion! I was having reflux at night and aspirating with the band, couldn't have much fill in it, therefore no restriction. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Kink in my tubing......

At my second fill, my port had totally flipped and I had to have revision surgery. That too, is rare, but it happened to me. It is discouraging, but its just a small bump in the road. Look at my ticker, couldn't be happier and you will be happy again soon. Hang in there!
  9. That's great, glad things have turned out well for you. I deal with terrible GERD among other things. Not getting much down other than soups because of the constant pain and nausea. Appt with my surgeon on Friday. Will be interested in what he has to say. He mentioned to me a few weeks ago that he has never had to do a revision from sleeve to bypass. Oh boy. Thanks for your response!
  10. Hello friends, 15 months post sleeve here, have lost a lot of weight, almost to goal. I am having a lot of problems and may be facing a revision soon. Would be interested in your experiences/progress after revision surgery. Are you glad that you had the revision? How much has it helped with issues you were dealing with pre-revision? Thank you
  11. I had the revision on Tuesday 9/27, still feeling under the weather, can't seem to get enough fluids in, trying to drink but so hard. Stomach still very sore especially the one large site. Also doesn't help I have a cough, so every time I cough hurts worse. How long did it take to get enough fluids in? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  12. I know this is post op I'm in a way post and pre op . Let me explain I was sleeved 6 months ago. In that 6 months I only lost 35 lbs that's 5.8 lbs a month. I was told I need the metabolic reset of the RNY. I'm scared that it won't work that I will be the same as the sleeve. Has anyone had a revision at a low BMI and then done okay. I was 244 the day of my sleeve and 208 today. I eat right an workout 5 days a week so I was not slacking or not following my plan. It is 80/128 oz water, 80/100 protein, 800/1100 Cals and 50 to 100 carbs I have been and am doing this but my weight stopped coming off well after 3 months. My original doctor started to avoid me and my my questions why wasn't losing I had to find a secondary surgeon. The second surgeon told me that this wasn't normal and that I should think about a revision to RNY. So I'm here looking for anyone that has thoughts and information from people who have had a revision and done alright and people with a low bmi that have done alright. Any info you can give would be helpful.
  13. I had an abdominal ultrasound that revealed gallstones. I'll have my band to sleeve revision and gallbladder removed on Aug 17th. Seems like a lot in one surgery but my Dr. assured me it's safe. I've done quite a bit of research and many Bariatric docs are taking the gallbadder out if it has stones because rapid weight loss aggravates gallbadder issues. Personally I rather not have to have another surgery if I can help it. Wish me luck. Less than a month to go.
  14. I had a VSG in 2015 and had gained almost all of the weight back. On May 27th I had a revision to a gastric bypass. I'm about 3 weeks out and this stitch pain is no joke! I can barely bend or walk at times. Aside from that and unlike my VSG, I feel great. So much so that I feel as though this will not work for me. Nothing is making me sick, I feel like I can eat without issues. I lost 21 pounds the first 2 weeks, now this week I've gained. I'm starting to feel like this will fail like the last time.

    4 days post-op (bypass)

Sounds a lot like me, I was ecstatic and I still am. I’m just so happy and grateful for my little pouch. From my approval all the way to surgery and even right now as I heal I stayed away from people and social media. I just needed to organize myself and time to be in my head. I didn’t go out or do much of anything. Buying the things I needed pre and post op and getting myself together was all I focused on. I also did a lot of cleaning to have my place ready when I got back from the hospital. I don’t have much clothes to donate because I literally lived off 2 pair of jeans and a few “just my size” shirts with and without sleeves. I refused to be buying clothes for my size. Are you having a revision because of GERD or do you feel like the sleeve isn’t the right tool for you? Today my goal will be to drink more water 🤢 Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

    4 days post-op (bypass)

Girl what you just wrote sounds like ME!!!! I refuse to go to the bar, why watch people drink when I can't?! I need to focus on my mental and physical health first. I wrote this on a few other threads, but its a combination of things, acid re flux, and the surgeon didn't take enough of my stomach out. My revision surgery team said that in my GI series, it didn't even look like a stomach that had been sleeved, and it wasn't because of pouch stretching. Bad luck I guess! But, thank goodness I got a second chance. A lot of people say, "omg I would be so angry, that's not fair, etc" but I look at it like yeah it sucks, but that's life sometimes! With the bypass, I think that i will have more success, and there is less that can go wrong in my situation. He asked if I wanted to be re-sleeved and I said hell no, I'm terrified of that now. Losing 50 pounds to gain 70 is a nightmare!!! It works for soooo many people, and I am so happy for that, I am just the unlucky one I guess! But on to better things! =)
  17. Hi All! I’m scheduled for a VSG to Loop DS revision next Thursday 9/26/19 with Dr. Walter Medlin In UT. I had VSG in SD with Dr. Takata In 2013, insurance covered it. It was successful and without complications. Pre VSG I was 297+... at my lowest I was at 180, With time and two pregnancies I lost restriction and gained. I was able to lose weight after both pregnancies but was not able to maintain it, or return to the post VSG pre pregnancy low. Despite maintaining a medium level of activity (depending on the week spin class/ triathlons/ 5ks/ 18-30 mi relaxed bike rides on the weekends/ lots of walking), I hovered around 235, now with low activity I’m at 250. I’m in my 2 week preop diet for the revision which is just as tough as I remember it the first time, maybe more. Little nervous for this surgery-more than I remember being for the VSG. This time I’m going in self pay. Confident in my decision but nervous about the immediate aftermath, toilette issues/ rate of loss/ nutrient deficiencies- the usual. Dr doesn’t plan to touch the sleeve, unless any problems are seen in the EDG. I’m loading up on vitamins and supplements now To get ahead of any deficiencies caused by malabsorption in the long run. Dr will determine Common Channel length at time of surgery at the moment it looks like it will be ~300 cm. Has anyone else had Dr. Medlin for their revision? Any tips for immediately after surgery? I’ll be flying back to SD the following Saturday-Anyone have to fly 2 days after surgery? Tips on flying post op, any general post op tips for this specific Bariatric surgery would be appreciated. I plan on updating this thread as I go along, and hope others might find it helpful in their research too. Thanks!

    That was fast!

Congrats on your quick approval. My reasons for choosing VSG over RNY for my revision: 1) Malabsorption with RNY only last 18-24 months for calories/fats/sugars, but you get a lifetime of vitamin/mineral malabsorption for life. That isn't a fair trade off in my opinion. 2) I had a pouch/stoma with the band, RNY offers the same thing, and my body hated the pouch. 3) I wanted to keep my pyloric valve for normal digestive functions. No bypassing no dumping 4) No blind stomach left behind that can still get ulcers/cancer yet it's very difficult to scope. 5) Pouches stretch. Regain stats with RNY are just scary. 6) Long term complications with malabsorption, and other various issues with RNY just weren't worth the immediate payoff of quick weight loss. 7) stats on VSG vs. RNY for weight loss were neck and neck, and I knew I didn't need malabsorption to get to my goal weight. That's the short list. Best decision I ever made ! ! !
  19. So finally after completing my options classes at kaiser my date is set for dec 17. Originally I had the lapband my dr is going to remove my band and do a revision to an rny the same time if everything looks ok inside. I'm super nervous. I keep reading horror stories and bad experiences online and it's freaking me out. Any support is appreciated

    Are smoothies allowed?

I just read that you are a band to sleeve revision that might make things different? But I was told be careful fruits with small seeds, strawberries etc. perhaps try a banana in a homemade shake?
  21. Thank you That's what I thought too... And what I had experienced for my lap band. I thought perhaps it's cause its a revision they needed three more incisions. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Finally got my band to sleeve revision done. It was yesterday. First 3 hours was bad. Incision pain, general nausea, gas pains. After that I could walk and the pain subsided. Although nauseous, I tolerated Water well, and I never slimed (like I did with my lap band) and haven't thrown up yet. The first two walks, I got dizzy. That went away today. My surgery was done at 7 am, and I was released the same day at 4 pm. I was first in. I'm not hungry at all. Today, on my 2nd day I was able finished 32 oz with 1 scoop Bariclear, going to make a new one to try to get 64 oz but don't think I'll be able to get that down by the end of the day. So I see I have 7 incisions. I had like 4 for my lapband. How many did they put in you? Thanks!
  23. I was not aware you could do a revision to the RNY interesting??? Pls tell me more about this. I don't need this I don't think but I am having complications due to gastroparesis...
  24. Good morning, I just had a RYN revision from a RYN that was done in 2003.....I'm 3 weeks post op and I am just starting on my soft foods but I am still doing my Protein drinks and shakes too. The first 2 weeks I was only doing my Protein Drinks and shakes, broth, and sugar free Jello, crystal light and Water...I'm doing 30ml every 15 to 20 minutes.
