Oh wow so it took 3 months from the time you submitted to insurance to actually have the surgery? Ugh... I'm so sad. I just want to be done -

Hair loss following surgery

Thank you for your insight. I don't know if they put me on xeral but I do know they had me on blood thinners during and after my surgery for three weeks. I am faithful taking my Protein and Vitamins plus Vitamin E that may help according to my beautician. Thank you again. Sandy -
Hello All, I need a little encouragement. I have recently decided to postpone my surgery due to some pretty serious personal problems (separating from my husband and relocating with my lil one). I was planning to have the operation in December during the holidays because that's when I would have the time off from work, and I was 6lbs within reach of my pre-surgery weight. Well, it looks like the next time I'll be able to take 4 weeks off (My doctor recommends taking off a month) will be end of June. Since making all these decisions I've been really down and eating like crazy!! June is so far away! I'm an emotional eater and I'm trying not to be. But honestly, with the major transitions in my personal life I'm struggling and I've been eating everything under the sun! I'm scared I'm on a downward spiral to completely diving in to a bucket of ice cream and fried chicken! Any encouragement you can offer would be nice and is very welcome! Thx community!

This is normal. I have a 5 year old daughter, single mom. I will be sleeve in May and kinda have this thought at least once a week. I've done the if I'm gone letter, the will, and custody if I die (bc I want my father to have custody instead of her horrible father). This is normal, and I talk myself out of the death scares lol. Just imagine the beautiful life your going to have with your children, and how not only you but your whole family will benefit from this change.

I have a pre-op appointment in about a month and surgery scheduled in about a month and a half. Having this glimmer of hope that something might finally work I've been eating better and doing more walking. I have been so excited about the prospect of finally losing the weight effectively that I've lost almost 10 lbs in the last six weeks. Will losing too much weight pre-op jeopardize my insurance approval (BCBS)? I don't want to gain weight just for the sake of gaining weight, but I know I won't be able to keep it off without the procedure.

2 weeks after Lap Band -
Yes! I just started the last couple of weeks making it a regular thing, but its so hard for me to get motivated to go by myself! My sister usually goes with me since my husband works nights and I work days so we never see each other much. But this week my sister is out of town so I am accountable for myself and I have dropped the ball haha. Going to make myself go tonight because I know how important it is! I want to lose at least 14 more pounds by my anniversary trip in April so I gotta kick my butt in gear!

I started cize 6 week training. It's everyday for six weeks. I don't think I can hang everyday. I also have a bow flex and try to get some strength training every other day. I'm just so exhausted after work lately that I really haven't been consistent.

United Healthcare?
lsmith715 replied to sassyfrass23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just approved last week and have United Healthcare. I did the 6 month supervised diet but was far away enough away from the bmi limit not to have to worry about it. But honestly if you are below the bmi and have no comorbidity that might be an issue. My Dr had.to fill out a form with my weights and what was discussed at each visit. I also had to provide the past 5 years of medical weigh ins. I'm scheduled for 11/17 and can not wait. It was a long and hard wait. Good luck!!!!! -
I plan to find an unflavored I can handle, I haven't start trying them yet but will once I get a surgery date. I think those sweet pre-made shakes would get old really fast and getting enough protein from your food would be hard the first few weeks or months because the sleeve can only hold so much. People mix unflavored with jello and pudding mixes, water with flavoring like Crystal Light, even things like Cream of Wheat and soups. You can puree the soup and put it in that (just watch the temp, if you mix it with something too hot it will clump)

Until surgery date! Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks and a new heart related question
seriously11 replied to val144's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think they give you blood thinners. They want you off of that prior to surgery because of the increase of bleeding. But I could be wrong. My doctor told me to be off of aspirin and blood thinners 2 weeks prior to surgery. -
Yay! I know how you feel... I had my psych eval last week, upper gi series this am, cardiac clearance & last NUT appt Thursday. Good luck to you!

I have heard this phrase a lot, everyone is different. I am 14 months out, and there are things I wasn't able to eat before that I can now. My doctor suggested putting aside the "offensive" food item, and try it again in a few weeks. It could have been the milk or the cereal individually, you just never know. Try it again, in a small amount, in a few weeks.

getting ready for lap band
BandedBrunette481 replied to ddsweighin228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor only required a week of liquids after surgery. I moved up gradually in my food stages until I got to real food at week 4 post op. But like everyone else said, it depends on your doctor's specific requirements. -

I need some opinions and suggestions. I am currently in the options class and I have 4 classes left. When I started the class 8 weeks ago my BMI was only 37. I don't have any co-morbities and I am afraid that once I finish the classes I will not get the authorization to get the surgery. The nurse who teaches our class says that if I got into the options class and if I complete all of the requirements then I should get the authorization once the class is over. I am very worried and I have not lost any weight because I do not want my BMI to drop any lower. So I would like some opinions and answers about the following questions. Do you think I will get the authorization once the class is over? Should I be worried? Should I try to lose weight? All comments welcome.

Finished my 6 months, waiting on acceptance. Any Bowling Green, KY People?
Fallinstar replied to Fallinstar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They would like for you to lose weight but not a requirement. Just can not weigh more on surgery day than you did on your first weigh in. I have lost 29 lbs. I have cut out all sodas, fried foods and very low carb consumption. Was hard for the first few weeks but it became a habit and now I don't think about it. I was reluctant that I would be able to do it, but I have and can't wait to get my date. -
I'm able to do something I have always wanted to do
mumof2boys posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone. I have always wanted to do the 3 day breast cancer walk, but because I was so big I knew that I would never be able to complete it. Well...this is a new year. I have committed to completing the 60 mile walk. I have lost almost 80 pounds and I know that I can do it. My aunt is a breast cancer survivor so it makes me even more excited to take on this committment. I will be doing the walk in Washington DC in October. I am in the beginning stages of raising money (I have to raise at least $2,200). If anyone is interested in donating on my behalf, you can do so through my site at: Welcome to the Washington DC Breast Cancer 3-Day: Also, if you are in my area and are interesting in joining me for training walks, let me know!!! My personal goal is to be at my "weight loss goal" by the time of the walk. Wish me luck!!!!
