    What brand of yogurt

I haven't bought the Chobani because of the carb count. Some people are really sensitive to carbs, and others do great with calorie restriction alone, regardless of the make-up of the calories--I'm one who can't lose if I got over 40-ish carbs, no matter how low I keep the calories. With the plain yogurt, what I do most is put in a few drops of vanilla extract and a couple packets of Splenda or Truvia, but you can also use sf flavored syrups, sf jam, stuff like that.

    How is 1200 Calories enough?

Ok I have to admit I have not been adding up my calories so I just went and did it, Today I had 550 calories and I would say that pretty much represents my days. For Breakfast Protein shake: 110 Snack greek yogurt with berries 145 lunch 3 turkey meat balls and some green Beans 150 A bite of a bagel (not typical) 35 calories dinner 2 Asian spring rolls (trader joes) 100 calories Each meal I could not get any more food in, so now I am am making myself have some apple with almond butter. How do I get more calories in if I am full??? I frustrated because I am in a stall and I am sure it is from starvation mode. I excerise 30 minutes in the morning doing step aerobics on the Wii.
  3. I've only had my sleeve two weeks but it really is a whole new world. I've gone 3 weeks without throwing up, which is a record with the band. Even though I'm only on full liquids I could have issues iwth the band when it came to eating something like yogurt. I can have breakfast in the morning without have to down 24 oz of water first to make sure food could even go down. I just feel like this is what weight loss surgery was supposed to be all along. I had my band 3 years but I was miserable with it. Fills, unfills, re-fills, re-unfills...neverending vicious cycle. I will never recommend the band to anyone. Sleeve ALL THE WAY!
  4. I mix unflavored protein powder into yogurt or soup quite often. I personally do not like Unjury and would suggest switching to another protein powder. We carry many options at https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-powders/flavor_unflavored .

One month out and feeling good!

lol I stocked up with like a 3 month supply of protein drink mixes, protein water, SF jello and pudding, bone broth, creamed soups, Greek yogurt... After what I've been able to get down there last year days I realized it's probably actually 6+ months worth of supplies considering I'm only eating a tablespoon here and a teaspoon there. Heck one small box of Jello will serve me twice a day for a week. Plus, my taste buds are suddenly changing and I'm not even enjoying my meals except the protein shakes which thankfully I still love. Working post op

It depends on what you do. I have a desk job. I brought my insulated lunch box with my shakes inside and my yogurt. I had plenty of access to water. I brought in packets of Crystal Light type stuff. I was back at work 6 days after surgery. One day I treated myself to egg drop soup - but the sodium content messed with me. Wasn't really an issue, but I don't know what you do.

    April Bypass Updates?!

Surgery 4/13. Start weight 391, surgery weight 360, current weight 312. It seems like ages ago...weird. Had a major stall and weight loss has slowed...a bit depressing. So many friends have positive comments about progress but I feel like I’m going to let everyone and myself down. I’m now losing slower and even tho I’m eating less than presurgery. In the last month I have had difficulty with water, which is so strange for me cause I was easily drinking on average 100oz. daily pre and post op. Water now often hurts my stomach. Really trying to control myself but I have had no food issues, which is scary. I feel I could probably eat anything. Worst is a small bite of a cannoli yesterday Daily routine is premier protein shake, yogurt, baked or grilled chicken/beef jerky/or other meat...craving crunchy and salty, so either have a handful of nuts or pretzels or pb cheese crackers (figuring this is problem). Will have small amounts of salad/veggies/fruit but not daily. I need to get more exercise ...doing an hour of water aerobics 3-4 x a week and some walking. We are flying on vacation in September...so feeling anxiety about being comfortable on plane and dining chairs with arms. Maybe I had unreasonable expectations of losing faster? I am better off today than 8 months ago but a looooong way to go. I’m going down instead of up!
  8. eggs are mushies so whenever you're cleared for mushies or purees, you should be able to add those foods. Applesauce is a full liquid. I wasn't ever able to eat eggs even now at 16 months scrambled eggs cause some discomfort/heavy feeling. Don't push mushies, if you're having trouble getting in liquids, mushies won't help because the consistency is much heavier. I'm not sure if cottage cheese would be a full liquid or mushy because I hate cottage cheese so I never ate/eat it. Logically, if sugar-free pudding, and yogurts are full liquids then cottage cheese would fall in that same category. Just chew up the curbs to mush.

  10. Hello all. I'm hoping that I can get some advice or at least confirmation that I'm not the only one having this issue. I had my RNY 7/21/16, so I'm about 8 weeks out. Im back on normal foods, theoretically, but the issue I've been having the last couple of weeks is that pretty much everything I eat makes me nauseous. I've tried everything. Grilled chicken, ground beef, chili, turkey, cheese, tuna, Beans. Nothing seems to sit well, and I'm at a point where I don't even want to eat because it's not worth being nauseous for the next hour. Even thinking about food just makes my stomach (or what's left of it) turn. The only things I seem to be able to tolerate are my Protein shakes and yogurt. And even those are iffy sometimes. Even though it's hard to believe I'm even thinking this, I'm just so tired of feeling like this that I don't even want to bother with food anymore. Is this normal? My NUT said it takes about 3 months for everything to settle down, but this constant sick feeling is driving me nuts. I did not/have not had any post op complications. Any advice on what I could eat or what I should do? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Strangely, maybe this (in part) how "normal people" are? In any case, I plan my meals pretty closely and work HARD to eat to live rather than live to eat. Start with things similar to yogurt like cottage cheest, and work to tuna, canned chicken, canned ham. Just plan it and eat it whether you 'crave' it or not... and best of luck on this journey!!!

    CHIA Seeds

I have some ready to go for when I'm cleared, but haven't used them yet. Hopefully someone here has ideas. I think they are nutty tasting so you can sprinkle them on things (yogurt, casseroles).

    Banding set for August 27!!

Wow. Today is day 11! I feel totally different than I did a week ago: 1) I have energy enough to wake up a 6am with the baby, get errands done around town and even play with the baby up 'till 6pm. 2) My tape is still on my wounds, except for one. The scar is covered with a this scab. I was told to put neosporn on it. I did. 3) I can't wait till day 15 when I get to expand my food options to cheese, tuna and eggs! 4) Right now my diet looks like this: a) oatmeal and coffee for Breakfast yogurt for lunch c) Soup for dinner d) also a Protein drink, popsicle and lots of Water. I DO HAVE SOME QUESTIONS FOR YALL!!!! 1) What are you eating in your week 2 diet? I am bored. 2) Any idea for recipes for week 3? 3) When should I start feeling like I am getting 'full'? When I start more solid foods? I'm confused because the liquid goes down so easily... I guess I'm a little scared that I won't have any restriction when I get to week 3. I DO

    You have to try these

I have also wasted on TON of money on protein products from GNC, Walmart and my doctor's office; the ONLY one I can tolerate is the UNflavored UNjury. . . add it to o.j., yogurt, milk ---> it's great; with about 21 grams of protein in one scoop.

    You have to try these

So when this journey began I started trying protein shakes for the first time. I know why I never drank them before. They are disgusting! I have wasted more money than I care to think about with cases of ready made and cans of powder still in my cabinets. Finally, I have found the perfect protein shake for me. I put one Dole Shaker, one Chobani plain yogurt and a splash of sugar free liquid. Blend it for a few seconds in the blender and presto! A little taste of heaven! 20 grams of protein and 200 calories. Tastes like a milkshake and keeps me full till lunch. Slight warning that these are not cheap. The Dole Shakers run around $2.20 and Chobani yogurt about $1.30, so you're looking at $3.50 per shake but well worth the money! Lisa

Am I able to eat to much?

Yogurt is a liquid, so it isn't really going to cause restriction. Some people heal faster than others. be happy and grateful, it means you can meet your protein goals easier.
  17. Yikkes! I don't think I could even eat half of a Jr. Whopper. I haven't actually tried a burger at a fast food restaurant since before I was banded. As far as fries go, I sometimes eat four of them if someone else gets them. I usually get a yogurt and fruit parfait if I have to go to McDonalds. I haven't gone to Burger King since being banded, but I imagine they have something similar to McDonald's yogurt. I have gone to Papa Gino's and get one piece of pizza when I go. Sometimes I can finish it and sometimes I cannot. I would get a fill if I could eat a Whopper Jr. and fries because I probably would eat that much if I could. My band is my belly cop! Best wishes to you and your band. Sue

    Protein

Try Click protein- they have vanilla latte and Mocha flavored, with skim milk- tastes like a iced latte. 15 grams protein. Also Greek Yogurt has like 17 grams of protein, I add a little splenda and some sugar free jam- can also put in blender with skim milk and make a smoothie. Another thing to try are sugarfree syrups like they use in coffee shops. My sister sent me a case of 6 different flavors for christmas( she had WLS in september) I add a little vanilla, or carmal to the protein shakes and it hides the preotein taste a little more. Some of the soup flavors are better then the sweet protein powder in the begining I found too. good luck!

greek yogurt and ranch dressing mix... Great dip for veggies (I use spicy ranch sometimes) yummy. Even my kids eat it and love it.
  21. Hey Everyone, I'm 11 days post-op and feeling great. I have been very lucky to have had no nausea, vomiting, very little pain, and all around I can do all the things I used to do before surgery. I was wondering if anyone else this early in wasn't having any problems with their liquids. I can drink a bottle of water fairly easily. I have very little restriction when it comes to water, crystal light, etc. I do have some restriction when it comes to cream of wheat, yogurt, S.F pudding. I just want to make sure my little belly is working right. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    vegetarians and vegans

I'm not going to lie, I struggle with it. Eggs are a great source of protein, but I don't always feel like making them. I buy the Garden Veggie Patties by Morningstar from Costco (they are bigger and have 18g protein). I try to drink one Muscle Milk Lite or Premier Protein daily, but that's not always the case. Cottage cheese and greek yogurt are great sources of protein, as well as beans. I like making salads that are protein packed (spinach, eggs, beans, sunflower seeds, cubed fake meat if I have it). I snack on low-fat string cheese almost daily. A lot of the processed fake meat products have a good deal of protein, but they are also pretty dry so I have to take tiny bites and chew like crazy. They are the #1 thing that makes me PB or in the beginning, get stuck. I have, to date, lost 61 pounds. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian (though I don't drink milk, I do eat dairy products). Before surgery, I was definitely a "starchitarian" so the lap band lifestyle has most definitely helped me lose weight. My body loves the extra protein that I get, and the band limits the amount of starches I can eat. I'll definitely be following this thread to see if more suggestions come through. I would love to hear them!
  23. I left Austin in plenty of time to catch my 1:30 flight from San Antonio to Monterrey, Mexico. I was relaxed and in a really good place. After missing the exit for the airport, I had to drive a few miles to turn around and get back on track. Still time....but a little rushed now. I get into the airport complex and can't find any signs that point me to parking for Terminal 1....so I drive around in circles for 10 minutes or so.....but now, I'm starting to get annoyed. I finally find the parking garage and speed up and down the isles looking for an open spot. I finally found a spot, grabbed by luggage and starting trying to figure out how find Terminal 1. No signs, no arrows, none to help...I'm just running in circles looking for a way out. Finally I get out of the garage, but I'm at Terminal 2. Now I'm beginning to PANIC. I start jogging across the parking lot to Terminal 1 - it's 94 degrees. I get into the terminal, make it to the Ticket counter and was told the plane was delayed by 2 FREAKING HOURS:cursing: I calm down, email my patient coordinator, eat some yogurt, and listen to one of my audio books. We finally board, but sit, and sit, and sit in the hot sun. The plane backs up, stops, then RETURNS TO THE GATE:scared2: and we sit some more. FINALLY we take off and have an uneventful trip to Monterrey. More later

One week post op and I feel really good. Barely any incisional pain left. I feel like I can bigger drinks of water, well more than a sip. I've just been eating soup, yogurt and protein drinks or shakes. My daughters birthday is the weekend and we are having a party tomorrow. I had to go into Subway (smelled like heaven) and GiGi's cupcake to order food and cupcakes for her party. She has to have surgery to remove her Thyroid on Thursday so it will be really hard to to stress eat with a 4 oz pouch. I need to take food with me to the hospital because she'll be in a few days. Hope everyone has a good weekend! HW 229.8 (pre-op) CW 211.4
