It is better - still there, comes and goes, but it is better. My Dr. put in a referral today for a specialist - hopefully it doesn't take weeks to get in to see them. On top of all this I broke a dang tooth! Luckily, the dentist looked at it today and doesn't think I will need a rootcanal. He is going to put a pin in it and a crown on it tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!

I wish I had the will power to only weigh myself every two weeks! I weigh myself every single day! Lol!
But it's a good way of tracking ouR progress. During the week my weight goes up and down, but I only count the Friday weight to see how I did over the week. And don't worry about posting every week - it's only there so we can support one another, so posting whenever you DO weigh yourself will be great!

hiya,
i lost 3lbs over the weekend, but havent weighed myself since, keep forgetting to do it in the morning before i get dressed, as ive been tired this week. i looked in the cookbooks just now and there are some nice things, but ive got to work out the quantities for one person or do the things that can be frozen, like the meatballs. seems like alot of ingrediants though, but my shopping list is long this week, with lots of variation, so ive, for example, got one onion and 2 oranges. trying to make it as varied as i can as my head is now complaining it wants food when im not hungry, so need to make my diet as varied as i possible can. people in the office had donoughts today and cake 2 days ago, its not normally that type of an office, unless it is someones birthday, but has been in this last week. think that is why my head is going mad!!
hope you are ok, only a few more days to go. are you on liquids?

hi cometchaser - i'm sorry i didn't see this message. probably by now you've gotten some answers... my surgeon required pre-weight loss ( a % of body weight i think) to shrink my liver - so that she could move it more easily during surgery. i've heard this is very common and that most surgeons require this step.
it was extremely frustrating for me because it took me 8 months to lose 6 lbs - and i had to lose 10. i had to change to another program with a different surgeon that offerred optifast before surgery (medical fast where you drink their protein shakes and protein bars only and i did that and lost the pre-surgery weight finally). took me 3 years to get the surgery because i changed programs. but i had it on 6/10/08 and it is going very well! stick with it - it's so worth it!!!!!!

Thanks for thinking of me. I am doing well, just had my first fill last week. I am at about 50 total loss. I'm trying to spend a lot of time at the gym and less in my recliner! Hope you are doing well, too!

Good luck tomorrow! It may not be worth it for a few days, but a few weeks out, it is great!

-hugs- Feel better hun. I'm sure as the week goes on you will be able to sleep better and rest. Thanks for making me feel better.

Hello, I saw a reply that you did. I weigh 380 now and want to lose about 180lbs. I want to get to 200lbs. Anyway, I saw that your goals where kinda close to mine. I am looking for a couple people to blog with for support. I wanted to know if we could keep in touch and work together. I could really lose the help. I will be going o the gym doing about an hour of cardio 5 times per week also. I was planning on doing the Atkins diet. So, yeah let know.

That is great about the clothes, not about the work or the crotch
I have a selection of work clothes that will get me through quite a few kilos of my loss which is great!
Canteen food tends to be like that, I hope you can bring in your own or have somewhere near you that has healthier options for those days you can't be bothered making your lunch!
Do you have an area you can heat up your own food??
I will definitely be taking the 2 weeks!! And no it isn't long now!! Had my preop with the surgeon today! Just a formality, only 15minutes. He did say that there appears to be a correlation between those who lose weight well on the preop doing well after the surgery
Preop Nurse Friday! Did you use Degas after your surgery??

Good Job! I've lost 17 lbs total. I called the Dr. last week and started mushies, so I've been have refried beans!LOL And I have not been hungry...well I get hungry after like 5 hours of not eating, but when I'm done with my portion I feel full. I can't wait to see you tomorrow. If you get there before me save me a sit and I will do the same!

I tried sending you a message and I don't know if I sent it, or deleted it. So if I'm repeating myself, sorry. Congrats and good luck next week. How exciting. I can't stand the wait. My appointment is 8/25, I'm still trying which loan to go with for my financing. Guess I better hurry up. Your process went really quick. Are you in CO?

Hey! The support group......to be honest, no, I don't really like it so i'm sure you wouldn't like it either. I go with my coworker who just had the bypass..(we both used Dr. Mailapur). But like i said, I am the only bandster who shows up. So I feel out of place most of the time. I have only been to 3...one before surgery, and 2 since surgery. My first one after surgery, we were all giving our testimonials and almost all the bypass patients were talking about how they don't have any cravings for the bad food and no hunger and i was sitting there wanting to leave...I was in a big "blah" stage with LOTS of HUNGER and cravings and anger from missing food. Even though we are all supposed to follow the same diet plan, bypassers and banders have separate issues and we go through different things. I wish we had a band support group, but until then, i guess you and this site will be mine.
Have a good weekend!!!

Good Morning,
I was back to work yesteday. I had the advantage to work from home this week on Thursday and Friday, which was good for me, but there is a lot of stress going on right now at work. I am off and on the road this Monday, so it should be interesting.
I have one grown son, that lives at home with me and my husband. He works and goes to school full time so he passes through occassionally. I hope you are feeling well. Keep in touch.

Merek: I am actually from the Kansas City area but our insurance is admistrated via SC. I am not a state employee.
My requirement were 1. BMI over 35, 2. Letter from a Pyscologist stating that I was of sound mind to make my own medical decisions. 3. and a letter from a Nutritionist saying that I was a good candidate.
I found that if you CALL THEM and talk to the determination department and find out EXACTLY what they need, it helps.... because each surgeon and each provider (shrink, nutritionist) has their OWN requirements.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! The band is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.. (I am a volume eater, and the band stops that dead it its tracks!)

Hello Trish, I'm not yet banded, but will be VERY soon (within the next 6 weeks) and I too could use some friends on here, so....let's be friends. Sorry I cannot help you with your port issue. Stephanie
