Well for my meals i do make healthy food choices, and as for my protein intake i make sure that every meal i have has some type of protein, so that does include 2 protein shakes a day, but if i don't drink my shakes i get tempted to eat more during my meals... i feel i have no restriction though so i cant wait till i get a fill. My weight is still the same for past two weeks i also workout 3 x a week on the elliptical for 30 min and do weights as well... so that is why i am getting a little discourage...so will see i am hanging in there!!

Hey! I was suppose to be on a liquid diet for two weeks but I started eating soft foods 5 days early. The doctor himself said most people can not wait that long. I did see that if you eat mash potatoes that can be filling for you if your still on liquids and all. I first tried scrambled eggs. Now I can eat just about anything but I watch my porportions. I get filled monday and can't wait. I have lost so far close to 25 pounds all together! Hoping that I don't gain any of it back by next monday!

I know what your saying....my appetite has increased, but still not what it was so I do feel some benefit of feeling full with the fill, but only because I visually look at what I'm eating and saying I should only eat this amount because once i get it filled it will be harder to eat only 1/2 cup of food. My doctor didn't really put any restriction on my food really, but just said my biggest battle between now and my first fill is not to gain the weight I've lost so far....and so far I've been able to hold study, but mon thru fri I go on the treadmill and walk at least 2.25 miles so. Now I'm just trying to make good food choices. Only really getting in a protein drink in the morning and the half of a protein drink mid afternoon if I'm luck on that second one! So how is your days like as far as protein intake and all? My next appt is the 24th hoping thats when I will get my first fill!

Wow, you sound good.. Things sound normal from what I have read, however my banding is not until this Thursday, so I am alittle nervous, excited and been reading up on the expectations. So today is Saturday the 15th, how are you feeling now? Lost any weight? How much do you have to lose? I am in California and I have about 75 to lose, but hoping it will be closer to 70 by operation day.. Keep in touch

Thanks so much for your always sweet and encouraging words. I too was so scared, but now with the weight off, I am very excited and super hyped about trying NEW and scary things. I am a risk taker when I NEVER would have been before. Will post lots of pics when I return! God Bless You!

Hi Newmsa
I am 5'5" and went into surgery at 201 so a BMI of about 34. Tried and tried and tried and just couldn't change my eating habits for long, couldn't stop at just 1 or 2 cookies. This surgery forces me to do just that. I have lost 10 lbs within the first 10 days and know it is slowing so am staying away from the scales. Need to start exercising to get it moving again. Food is 80% of weight loss. I used to do a serious boot camp 5 days a week and didn't lose a bit - just goes to show.

I need some one here to help me get through this because I can't find time to exercise , go to school, and work 2 pm - 11 pm and still spend time with my child and boyfriend. Can you help me please?

Hey Lady! Thanks for the picture comment. Don't get discouraged because you have done great! We all hit a plateau at some point which just means we have to work harder to get past it then it will be smooth sailing again. I am going through the same thing myself right now. I gained back a pound and a half after coming off the liquid diet but I am also not working out at all. I am going to have to make a schedule for myself to get that time in or I will not lose anymore weight at all and that is easier said than done! You have come so close to your goal! I have confidence in you! You will make it girl!! :-)

Thank you for the comment to my blog and I have often wondered what things would be like if I had not shared my surgery with my brothers and sisters, but I know that eventually they would have figured it out and confronted me, my weight loss was so drastic and I have lost so much. I have tried for years and years and years and had no success, so they would have been very curious as to how I could do so well. I wish you the best of luck with your weightloss journey. You are sure to do well!

Glad to know your'e doing good and that it will be better now for you. i think i've done what everybody told me not to do, and that's work out (weights) too much until you start turning fat into muscle. being that muscle weighs more that's one reason why i probably have'nt seen much weight lost lately, but at the same time i'm soo damn nervous and afraid that my body will not bounce back when i do finish losing the weight. so i'm just up in the gym like a darn fool because i don't want alot of flab. so now i think i'm going to walk everyday and workout(weights) a few times a week, also it's about time for my 3rd fill (Jan. 19th). So i'll set this plan in motion and see what happens after that.

Hey-Dallas is a good place and very affordable. I have two daughters and they can make it on their own in an apt. I would be happy to lend advice or a helping hand if it gets to that point.
Well, I have to "get" my medical records. How much is that gonna cost?? I've been with one drs office since 2006, but need a 5 yr history of records. I'll schlep over to the other office next week when I'm off and see what I can do. I have not lost one pound of weight since going to the nutritionist. I've actually gained 4! I'm not seriously trying either. I do write stuff down and I was really honest the first 3 weeks, now I just put down what she wants to see. I'm only cheating myself, but I can live with that for now.
I turned 49 last month and I am ready to get on this journey. I want to be healthier and feel better before 50! I'm still hoping for April. Will definitely keep you posted. Kathi

Hi. I wish they would let me do a diet like that with real food! Mine is putting me on a liquid diet called Optifast. It's 5 shakes a day...period. I hear the first few days are hell, but afterward it gets better. 2 weeks of that! Yikes! But I also hear that you can lose up to 20 lbs. on the liquid diet! It would be a good head start to the weight loss. Then I have to be on the liquid diet for 1 more week after the surgery. Good luck with your diet and keep in touch...we will need support during this week! Take care!

You are my inspiration!! I was banded 10-6-08 and I have lost 50#'s so far....but, I have only had one fill, and I dont see/feel much difference....sorta bummed about that. I have gained a pound or two since then too. I dont go back to the Dr. until the end of March, so I guess I am trying to hold on. Thanks for your inspirational photos and stories!!
Keep up the good work!!

Continued...Maybe the one that inspired you to have the band surgrey!! When you first see the scales move down you will be excited. But sometimes weeks pass and their isn't much of a number loss. These pictures will keep you inspired. When I lost my 50 pounds, I knew I felt better and I was excited about losing this weight. However, I was still a plus size and it is difficult to see the difference. I know that sounds strange but I never really saw how big I was and I am now shocked at the difference I see. So when I get stuck at weight for a long time I can look at my before pictures and then at my now pictures and it makes me feel soooo good. Sometimes when my weight isn't changing I am still losing inches. I do really recommend you taking that before picture. Some place in your house where you can repeat the pose in a couple of monthes ... to get a good comparison. It will help inspire you thru the tough times!
