I am post-op 11 mos and I have slowed down way too much. I no longer have drive or energy to do what I know to do. Need some encouragement...I am not hitting my weight goal at my year mark in a few weeks. How can I get it going again...thoughts?

I think if I were in the situation you are in right now, I would go back and look at my before and during pictures. I'm betting seeing the HUGE change would give me enough of a kick in the pants to get going again. Or perhaps go back to basics for a few days, and sort of reset your stomach and metabolism. There is also something called the five day pouch test that may help you. Try not to get too discouraged. You've come a looong way and worked hard to be here, and you'll be able to keep going because you already know you have the strength. Take care and be kind to yourself.

Try reviewing a couple of weeks of your food diaries. You may find that you've been more liberal than you'd been previously. Also do yourself the favor of recalling that few goals have an end date. It's the doing that achieves the goal, but there's no calendar attached. Certainly not when it comes to weight loss. You're still losing, so relax. You're doing/getting what you set out to do nearly a year ago. You're way ahead of the game.

How very cool to read three women's updates, almost in a row, about downhill-rolling clothing sizes.

Hi everyone. Thursday, Friday and Saturday I was walking because I felt so good on Thursday and Friday. However I think I have been doing too much walking and sewing. Last night as I was working on sewing a curtain for my patio which I hope to me able to get out onto in the next coming weeks my back across the shoulder really started to hurt. Today the lower back shoulder pain has moved to the side breast underarm pit area. Is it possible for that pain to move? It makes me wonderful if the lower back shoulder pain I had was gas pain due to the laparoscopic surgery. If it is when does this gas pain truly leave the body? This new location pain hurts as much as the lower shoulder back pain did. Also how is it possible to gain weight when all I have had is protein soups and shakes? Yesterday when I got on the scale I was up 4 pounds. It makes no sense. Does liquid Tylenol with codeine cause weight gain even when you don't eat anything? Sorry for the venting but today is not a good day. I am frustrating that I may be backsliding not progressing.

Thanks but a super hero I don't think so. During the 3 procedure operation I had my gallbladder taken out. This is not incision pain. It is in the right side lower back shoulder pain that moved today to the breast armpit area. I saw my PCP on Thursday when I had the pain for 6 days all ready. He thought when the nurses and Pt lifted me off the toilet they broke a rib. But that was not the case. He gave me liquid Tylenol with codeine and it was helping but when the pain switched to the breast armpit area the meds were not helping any more. The walking I was doing was with the walker but today I couldn't even get out the door. All I did was relax in my recliner, surf the net and watch TV. It is only 10 days post op so I was surprised to see a stall all ready

Don't psych yourself out ssflbelle, you are doing fine and everything is working fine. Just chill out and heal a little bit. Slow but sure is the tortoise. Take the small victories and I agree you should stay off the scale for a while. Gas pains can and do move from one area to another sometimes. I had similar problems years ago when I had an abdominal surgery. The gas working out was the worst part.
Don't be down on yourself !

Hi I am not sure about the gas pains - I am one week out of surgery and have been trying to walk a bit when I feel up to it probably not as hard as you walk tho. I was also having a meltdown over my weight gain from surgery so good news day 8 from surgery and finally lost 2 lbs .... geez seems slow but so happy to finally be lower than my weight before the surgery!!! Hope your gas pain subsides soon!

So excited for you! You will do great!!! Just remember walk walk walk. AS soon as I came out of recovery I made myself get up and walk and I did great. I also asked for my pain meds every 4 hours whether I was hurting or not and it was not bad. My pain was nothing like I was expecting it to be. So thankful!

I love my treadmill and recumbent elliptical. I have been restricted since June following spine surgery. I can only walk at this point but the other day I got on my elliptical and just started going anyway. I have more spine surgery coming up November 16th and after that I really hope I can get back on them.

Supposed to close on our houses (old and new) a week from today. Still have no official word on a move-in date. Really starting to stress over not being able to make plans.

I had an RNY and a gallbladder removal on 7/24/15 and I am REALLY struggling emotionally!!! My food is good for the most part (I do dump sometimes tho) and weight loss is good too but my main issue is severe loneliness. I have NO ONE that I can discuss anything with or anyone for that matter that understands the new changes in my life. I lost my best friend due to this surgery (my changes were too much for her) so she did not come to help me during my recovery as promised (she lives in another state). I talk to her rarely now but it is very difficult because I am still hurting deeply. I am divorced and my two adult children are not supportive either. They have never been much anyway because they are so selfish. They emotionally abused me by starting confrontations the same week I came home from the hospital. Since they have chosen to disrespect my healing process I only interact with them when necessary. I have always been a strong, private woman (the one who others reach out to) and pride myself for not being what I call "needy" but my sadness has become so severe that I now know that I need to reach out. I need interactive, consistant people who want to be friendly and share. I am looking to not only be supported but I am looking to be supportive as well. There are no good WLS support groups in my area so I am reaching out here, thanks for listening!

Its been a week after my 2nd fill and I definitely get fuller with less food now, I can feel a little bit of more restriction but very little. I'm hoping 3rd time's the charm but we will see. I'm well aware it's different for all of us. On a side note my elliptical has made its way back into my bedroom. Hopefully I can make my way onto it

A snapshot of the past 30 days' weight loss. February 7 was the first day of my pre-op diet and surgery was Feb 21. I didn't weigh myself from the 21st thru 24th but you can see the bounce on the 25th due to continued retention of fluids from the hospital. I lost 5.6 lbs last week, but so far only 1.2 lbs this week.
While the weight has been coming off slowly, I did have feedback from my massage therapist on Monday that my inflammation seems much improved. She immediately noticed the difference in my calves, which were always very tight and hard, to the point she would often comment on it as being unusual. This time she was able to get right into the muscle without a struggle, and it was a similar story in my arms, neck and back. Whether it's from the surgery itself or from the complete lack of grains, sugar, and processed foods in my diet for a month, something is working.
