  1. I'm obsessed with losing quicker and hate this stall

  2. 3 month appointment went well. My vitamin D is a little low, but everything else was great. Down 63 pounds since 1 week pre op!

      wow.... in three months... incredible

  3. I haven't been on Bariatric Pal in a long while. I need to refocus! Weight loss has been at a stall and I have been a bad girl...

      The New Kel

Wow, that's fantastic! Congrats. Keep up the awesome work!

  5. Disappointment. My work is demanding and just when I put in my leave, it turns out there is another work "emergency" that sets me back for another week. I'm getting anxious about scheduling for another surgery date.

    1. LipstickLady

      LipstickLady

When you are in your 60s, 70s, 80s, are you going to remember the "work emergency" or the surgery you had to allow you to live all those extra years? You have to put yourself first at some point.

    2. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

Whoever would be handling the "emergency" that arises when you are out of the office is the one who should be handling the emergencies now.

Thanks for all the comments. I thought Id decide to just take care of it, so that I could not only have a peace of mind, but also get a real chance at resting and recuperating from the surgery without any interruptions or worries. Furthermore, In my line of work, theres plenty of blame to go around. Great work but all of that End of the year bs. Going Forward, I will definitely put myself first. After all, I'm all that I have. Thanks again.

  6. Hit my first stall but I'll be patient. On the bright side, a shirt I loved now fits again. Yay!

  7. About to head into week 5, and that means whole pieces of meat. One step closer to a "normal" diet.

    1. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

I don't actually know, I haven't weighed since my last doctor's appointment, which was a little over two weeks ago. I will record my weight again at my next doctor's appointment, whenever that is :) The scale has always been my enemy when it comes to weight loss, it affects me mentally too much. So I'm not in any hurry to weigh!

  12. Keep your fingers crossed for me....On Friday I finally had an epidural injection in my thoracic spine to try to get my mid back and rib pain to improve. This particular pain has been plagueing me for 1 1/2 years following my cervical fusion. Yesterday was the first time in 1 1/2 years that I had NO pain! Today I have pain but it is mild and totally tolerable. It takes a full week before you know the results of an epidural completely but I am so very hopeful that we finally found the cause and have treated it properly.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes! I still have a few days before this injection takes full effect. I have had a couple good days and a few bad ones. I am still hopeful and i have been told it might take a second try at it so we will see.

  13. Ok, I'm irritated. I just wanted to *read* the Great One-Week Pork Chop Post and can't find it. Back to real life, I guess ;-)

    1. LipstickLady

      LipstickLady

Seriously. I ate about 3 strips of fajita steak (probably about an ounce) very thinly sliced, a few **teaspoons** of refried beans, about 6 corn chips and some salsa.

FOAM, burp, FOAM, burp, FOAM, burp. Then up it came! My tummy randomly says NOPE every once in awhile. No rhyme or reason.

  14. Blaah....day 10 and I'm feeling sad. The monotomy of this pre op diet is wearing on me. However I've perservered. Very anxious about things, surgery coming up this Wednesday. My weight loss has slowed down significantly since last week. Only lost 2 more pounds which bums me out when I have not so much as licked a spoon that I shouldn't have. On a brighter note, I feel good as far as my aches and pains go, in spite of the fact that I've had no ibuprophen since the 12th.

    1. Cari Dickenson

      Cari Dickenson

The pre op sucked... I found I added flavor seasonings to make things taste different better etc... it's long and hard I had to o a month liquid diet through thanksgiving... and my birthday i will admit it sucked bad you can do this!! and it is worth it

    2. Stephanie

      Stephanie

It will be so worth it when you look back a year from now. You will be so glad you did everything they said to do, all the bad parts of this process will be behind you and you will be looking so good!

    3. Browneyedgirl41

Oh yeah. Pre op sucks but it must be done. Directly Post op isn't much fun either.

  15. This continues to be the best thing I've ever done for my health. My auto-immune arthritis pain is subsiding with zero meds. I do see my rheumy next week to get back on meds because even without pain the inflammation can damage joints. But I haven't felt this good unmedicated for years. Clothes continue having to go in the "giveaway" box for getting too loose. This weekend I'll have to pull down boxes of clothes that are smaller and assess the wardrobe. Getting more active, and feeling generally pretty good. Even cleaned part of my house last night!

  16. Manic Monday! What's on your plate? I've already emptied the dishwasher, thrown together a meat sauce for dinner, down two loads of laundy, and entered my calendar for the week. It's almost 7am and I am on the move!

Grilling, because I marrinated some meat over the weekend but was gone all weekend, so grilling right now before it goes bad. Baked my protein snacks for the week. on my 4th cup of coffee.

  17. I have been shrinking, shrinking, inches coming off everywhere but in a scale stall. Stall finally broke and the scale moved.

    1. Caribear

      Caribear

Yay! Isn't it funny how much that scale number can get to us? I'm so glad you are seeing progress, with or without the scale moving!

    2. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

@Caribear everyone should take their measurements every month. It is really more helpful than the scale.

    3. her1981

      her1981

I'm down to monthly weighing for that reason.

  18. I stepped onto the scales this morning and finally reached the milestone that I was begining to think would never come-ONEDERLAND! Do I have loose, saggy skin? You bet! But I would take that any day of the week over fat filled skin. There is a surgery to help correct that just like there was a surgery to help me get to where I am today. To finally see that number makes me feel even more determined to reach my goal and to maintain that for the rest of my life. So very grateful for my sleeve! Happy Monday everyone:)

  20. What's with all the bitching about not losing 10 lbs. a day? At least three new whines are posted daily. I have come to the conclusion that the psychologists who do evaluations are asking the wrong questions and not paying attention.

@WLSResources - mine used the word "only" as well. She had asked what my final goal weight was and asked how I would feel if I only got down xxx instead of my goal. I think she specifically chose the word "only" to see what sort of reaction it would trigger in me. I was pretty impressed with her - there were definitely times where she used likely trigger words to gauge my reactions, not because she was being insensitive.

    3. KristenLe

      KristenLe

@heidikat72 I believe that's what mine was doing as well. I don't remember the exact wording she used but it didn't bother me.

  21. Finally completely moved into my new apartment. Still have to unpack but that is a completely different beast. Classes have already started. On the plus side, I didn't weigh myself for nearly a week because my scale was at the old place (intentional) and I ended up dropping 10lbs this week. Guessing all these stairs up and down from the 3rd floor had a bit to do with that.

  22. I plan on going to the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana the first week of December. Has anyone had surgery there?

    1. JamieLogical

      JamieLogical

I had my sleeve there two years ago (surgiversary is tomorrow in fact!). I had a good experience there and have received excellent follow-up care. In fact, I just got my two year follow-up survey today.

    2. TIJUANA BOUND

      TIJUANA BOUND

That is great, and you look great. I am planning to go in December because I have that whole month off work, I am financing the surgery and that way payments won't be due until January. I am just a little unsure about going to Tijuana for surgery. I really just need to know if your experience with Dr. Ortiz and the OCC where on par with what is explained on the website.

    3. JamieLogical

      JamieLogical

I have been to TJ twice for surgery. Once for VSG and once for plastics. I had no issues either time. I received excellent care and always felt safe. My experience with OCC was exactly what I expected it to be, based on the research I had done. The only hiccup was transportation from the airport across the border. I was supposed to be shuttled across with another couple and their flight was delayed, so I had to wait quite a long time at the airport for them to get in before the shuttle took us to the hotel. That was nothing within OCC's control though, obviously. Everything else was smooth sailing,

  23. I have a full-thickness tear in my rotator cuff, so surgery on 9/13. Ugh, and yay all at the same time. Glad it can be repaired surgically, not looking forward to an immobilized right arm for 6 weeks :(

I'm sorry about my story too. I was just trying to commiserate with Shelterdog64, not compete with the horror stories as well. As I said before I only want to wish her good luck and a quick recovery. I shouldn't have shared and I'm sorry . :-(

    2. ShelterDog64

      ShelterDog64

All of you, no worries! I already knew this was going to be a crap recovery...anytime an orthopedic surgeon smiles and says 'oh, you WANT to have the surgery??', you know it's about to go down, and painfully ;-)
