    Three week stall?

Just curious about everyone’s experience. I’ve heard there’s a week 3 stall that nearly everyone experiences. I’m just finishing our week 3 and my loss has stalled. Even gained a pound. I assume it’s because of soft foods being introduced.
  2. You guys! Im on a three week stall with the scale jumping up and down! IDK what to do! Please help. I havent lost any weight for almost three weeks. I hardly eat and I drink a ton of water. When I do eat its usually a spoon full of food; and its usually rice and a meat with veggies. Im much more active then I was before but not as active as id like to be. Any advice will be helpful! Thanks! Frankie M.

    Three week stall

I lost 30 lbs the first three weeks after surgery, coming down from near 300 lbs. Now I have gained a pound in my 4th week. I heard this may be normal, but I feel maybe I need to buckle down even tighter on my eating, not sure. If this is true, how long did it last for you? When did you start to lose weight again?
  4. Mine is still going strong. This week, I finally put the scale away and have not been weighing myself everyday as I foolishly had been doing. I really expected to see some sort of drop this morning, but nothing. I'm honestly devastated. I'm walking everyday, keeping calories around 800 or less, drinking water. I started out with a quick 17 pound drop after being sleeved on 8/3 (SW 275, CW 252). I know the 3-week stall is real--how long did it last for you until you started dropping? I'm losing my mind here.
  5. Hi Everyone, Not sure if I am just over reacting, but it seems like my weight loss has stalled and tomorrow will be my three weeks post op. I have no idea why. I am getting ready to start my soft foods and I have been doing the puree this last week. I found some recipes and have not gone over or eaten anything that isn't recommended. I am working on my activity and am walking 20 min. a day. I don't know if I am just over reacting or not, but I don't like this stall. I saw my surgeon at 10 days post op, and my weight has not really changed much since then. Any ideas? Thanks!!
  6. YEP only three weeks post - op and I had my first stall. I lost . pounds instead of pounds. With one day of gain. Not much but a little. I started last Monday at 271.8 and today I'm at 271.0. Now I've read enough on here that this is very common. I changed stages this week from clear liquids to full liquids. And that stalls are common with Stage Changes. I'm not freighting. I'm getting my two premier shakes in a day and plenty of water. I did - bad me - have a bite of scrambled eggs a couple times this last weekend. I have 13 Hens and well the eggs are really building up. I made the Family eggs both Morning this last weekend and just took a bite each day. It didn't hurt my tummy or anything. But was very nice. I've heard some people are on food food by the third week, so I feel I'm doing very well for three weeks out and still on liquid. Any hoo just wanted to say if you go through a stall, don't freak. It's common and will pass. I'll let you know how this next week goes. OH! And I had another issue with the stage change. I totally had a brain fart about the constipation. OMG - I started the first Protein shakes on Saturday 28th and forgot to start the fiber and stool softener with them. I did't go till Tuesday and it was HELL. I suffer from Anal Fissures. They seems so much better. No pain with the current bowel movements (since they were mostly water due to the clear diet) But that was NOT cool. I don't try to give TMI but we are all in this together and I wanted you to understand it happens. And Bad. After two enemas and very painful - not pushing but pushing... I cleared it some. It took another bout of issues the next day. Of course the fissure is PISSED and back to feeling like passing glass, but the fiber and stool softener is finally all kicking in and hoping I can get all back to control. Please please don't forget to start at least a stool softener when you change to denser liquids and foods. I do both fiber I put in my water and two stool softener at bed time (without stimulant). BUT DO SPEAK TO YOUR OWN DOCTOR.. THEY MAY HAVE SOMETHING OR NOT WANT YOU ON A CERTAIN THING. ****I must share this recipe - I made it as a trial for my future Bariatric Recipes and my family was the guinea pigs. They are used it. LOL PIZZA FOR SLEEVIES I used two cans chicken breast- drain REALLY well - (keystone all natural is best) - you can even put in oven and dry out a bit before mixing the rest. I didn't but it suggest this if you want. 3 eggs 2 oz Parmesan cheese - REAL STUFF - NOT POWDERY STUFF Mix all this and press into desired shape on parchment paper placed on baking sheet. I shaped into a square since I had it on a square cookie sheet. Bake at 500 for 10 minutes. Remove and add Toppings. I added just a little spaghetti sauce, turkey pepperoni and shredded cheese since this is what my kids like. Return to oven for 10 more minutes. Remove and let cool a little. Cut and enjoy. Everyone said it was great. Of course I could try since on Full liquids still, but will definitely give it a go in a few weeks. LATER GATERS
  7. Having not lost weight for nearly two weeks after surgery, I was starting to stress even thought I had heard of the three week stall. I then read this article and discussed it with my husband who's a meat science who confirmed its accuracy. A breath of relief and kept doing what I was supposed to and weight started dropping quickly again. Thought I'd share if someone else was experience and wondering what was going on. Here's the link: The article I read
  8. I'm only about three and a half weeks post op and I'm already at a stall. I lost about 17 lbs in the first two weeks and now nothing. Is this typical?
  9. Hello. I recently had revision surgery from a band to the duodenal switch on June 9, 2017. Since surgery, I have lost 17 pounds, but I have hit a stall at three weeks post-op and it's got me wondering if my body won't respond to this surgery just as I failed with the band. Will I be the first person in DS history to actually maintain my weight eating under 1000 calories? For breakfast, I usually eat one scrambled egg with mushrooms and grated cheese. It goes down easily and fills me up. For lunch, I usually have something like bean and bacon soup or a few slices of deli meat. Sometimes I've had refried beans with melted cheese. In between meals, I'm drinking, drinking, drinking water. For dinner, I usually have fish, such as tilapia or soup with soft veggies and slow roasted chicken. My system cannot tolerate raw veggies yet or salads. As you know, since I'm a DSer, I only absorb 20 percent of the fat I intake. I have arthritis in my feet and knees, so walking or running is out for exercise; I ride my bike instead. I take my vitamins daily. Any encouragement you can offer would be greatly appreciated. What is wrong with my body???
  10. I'm three weeks out, and I've hit my first stall. I didn't think it would happen so quickly, but I just saw someone referring to it as "the three-week stall", so I guess I'm on target.

Try not to stress; it is completely normal, and most everyone goes through the first stall at week 3. My loss pre-op was very linear -- 3 pounds a week every week for six months. Post-op, it is more of a step function. I drop 8-10 pounds in 1-1.5 weeks, and then I stall for 1-1.5 weeks. Then it repeats. It is maddening, but it is the reality of the situation.

this will happen from time to time.... evaluate what your doing.... what your eating and how much... and your exercise... When i hit a stall... i would up the movement or start something new

You prob. started taking in more food... this is when you need to start moving more.

YOu know the old saying..... Eat less-move more

Thanks for the insight! Always helpful to know others have gone down the same road before me.

  11. Hi all! So, I'm curious. Is the three week stall a real thing, or am I just doing something wrong? I just hit week four today, and the scale hasn't moved more than a pound (up and down) since last Tuesday. I'm kind of concerned, and wondering if other people have experienced this too.
  12. A three week stall broke! I dropped four pounds in the last four days. :D

As much as I hate to say this I went slightly off track a couple of days ago when I got sick and I had chicken noodle soup. I don't know if was just a coincidence or if the carb cycling broke my stall but I have dropped like a rock since.

Thank you Treadmillwalker, and Happy New Year to you folks too!

HFFM, they say chicken soup has healing qualities for all sorts of things. Maybe it works for stalls too. ;-)

  13. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op. Things progressing fine. No problem with liquid or Protein requirement. Am able to eat soft foods prepared in the blender. Even turkey meat loaf and tuna. Cannot eat much or I feel stuffed. About 1/2 cup is my limit. Ground chicken chili with soft white Beans has been my latest. I was losing pounds fairly steadily until this week. I've lost 35 pounds since beginning the two week liquid diet on Sept 5. Now I seemed to have stalled. I've heard of the three week stall so has anyone else experienced it? My Doc says to stay away from the scales for a while because I'm replacing fat with lean muscle tissue. I just can't resist stepping on those scales every morning. Any of you sleevers experience the stall? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I was prepared for the three week stall. I have read numerous threads about it and know it happens to everyone. I weigh myself once every few days, sometimes up to five days. I last weighed myself on Saturday. I was 270. This morning, I am 271.4. I am still on a liquid diet, getting about 75 to 80 grams of Protein. I drink about 50 ounces of Fluid, working to get to 64 ounces. My goal is to have a lymphatic massage to release toxins and detox. Is weight gain also normal during the stall? 15. I just hit four weeks post- op, and managed to avoid the dreaded three week stall. I'm thanking my lucky stars for that, but I'm not an idiot, I'm sure it will happen eventually. So I'm curious... For those of you who didn't have a week three stall, when did you see your first stall? (Side note: I do realize that others experiences have no impact on what mine will be. I'm just curious.) ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  16. I am four weeks out. I made my husband hide my scale because it didnt move in four days and I freaked out. I googled and it seems lots of people talk about a three week stall. Did any else experience this? I am going to the gym 5 times a week and trying to get all my protien in. I am just not sure what to do?

  18. My surgery was 10 days ago. I seem to be stuck at the same weight for the past 3 days. I was wondering if the weight I lost on the 2 week Opti-fast liquid diet plus the weight lost during my first week home would make for a 3 week stall. Has anyone experienced this so early after surgery? I know it's still early but could use some encouragement. And I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm eating between 500 - 650 calories a day. I've so far not experienced dumping. I even had 1/2 cup of pureed split pea Soup last night for dinner. The only thing different so far is that my pouch doesn't like cold Water. It definitely has to be room temperature.
  19. Three week stall you will not win. It's onnnnn... lol

  20. I was sleeved on Jan. 22 so I’m 3.5 weeks post-op. Up until Feb. 9th, I was losing weight at a pretty consistent rate. However, since the 9th, I’ve been bouncing up and down between 3 pounds. I have heard about and understand the science behind the 3 week stall. I also understand that my body is going under major changes but I’m afraid I’m doing something wrong with my food choices. If it is just a stall, how long do they usually last? I am starting to get discouraged. I know I wasn’t getting enough Water and Protein so I’ve been very conscientious about meeting the minimums over the last week or so. I have also been experiencing light-headedness. I have emailed my NUT but I don't think I'll hear from her until Tuesday. I figured I'd ask the experts in this group to see if you had any guidance. Thanks in advance for your help.
  21. I am Begining week 4 and have noticed my weightless has slowed down quite a bit.,. Any tips to get it started again? Please and thank you!

Three weeks: a stall and a pants size

Holy **** once I went back to work life got busy. Anyway, I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess; over one week of pre-op diet, first week and second week post-op I lost 30 pounds. Which is amazing and I am still a little flabbergasted. Now, sadly, all that loss has caught up to me in the form of THE STALL. I've been between 235-236 for several days now (like maybe 5), but keeping patient. I did, after all, just lose 30 lbs in three weeks. I've been telling myself I might lose inches instead and reading the forums like crazy for morale, but every time I try on that stubborn pair of size 18 jeans they are still a little too tight. :[ HOWEVER: Work is taking us to Six Flags as a reward for being awesome last year, and I currently have nothing to wear to a theme park, so on my lunch break I dropped in to Lane Bryant to see what I could see in the clearance section. And lo, shining brilliantly on the rack, a pair of size 18 capri... jegging... things... hung in brightest red. And I did take them from the rack, and did carry them into the changing stall on the off chance they might fit. And there in the changing stall I discovered two things. One! My current work pants are a size 22 where I had unfortunately convinced myself they were a size twenty, which makes it retroactively depressing that they were pretty tight for a while. TWO! The capri-jegging-things FIT ME BEAUTIFULLY. aaand since I got them on the clearance rack and found $10 cash in my purse, only $10 came out of my checking account. Stall be damned, I won today :3
