  1. Hey Matt: Thats about the same rate I had. I managed to sleep 6 hours and stopped about 180 times. Did you get retested or did you just know your apnea went away?
  2. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea in Oct 2006. That was the driving force for finally doing something about my weight. Jodi, I don't want to make assumptions about your sleep center but mine was anything but professional. I am not sure what type of training or licensing it requires but I have very little faith in mine and have had my records transfered to a sleep center affiliated with a respected local hospital. If you are uncomfortable with them drop them like a 8th period Latin class and go elsewhere. Tom
  3. Better check with the Dr. girls. You may be restricted from swallowing 30 minutes before and 60 minutes after a meal. :-)
  4. Jody: Lots of good info here. I hope you realize there are many sucessful people with the band. You are 300 now and say you would not be satisfied to loose just 75 pounds. Think again. I dont know your BMI but I bet that 75 pounds would make the difference between being a walking time bomb vs leading a normal quality life. If you go from 300 to 225 you are a winner...
  5. Can you start doing it in the liquid stage or would it be considered a mushie??
  6. Hey Paula: Banded 5/7. First fill of .6 2 days ago 6/22. On Mushies tilll tomorrow so cant tell if it worked but he already scheduled me for another fill in 2 weeks. Lost more weight on preop diet then since I got banded. I exercised religiously first week then blew out my knee. Has been getting worse so no real loss since. I truly feel it is lack of exercise. Hang in there. You are normal. When they find the sweet spot you will enjoy the resulting weight losses and miss the big meals. Not a bad tradeoff.
  7. I think I would pass on drugs but maybe a glass of wine at the end of the day may not hurt :-)
  8. Same here. Gained 2 pounds when I went to mushie's. Had my post op exam today and Dr was apologetic to me. I'm not worried though. I got a long way to go. Will just do my best and let the scale land where it may.
  9. Well I feel a lot better. Day 5 much better then day 3. Learned that it is better to sleep flat then in a recliner despite a little more pain if I roll. Did the Mothers Day Walk this AM, took the kids out this afternoon and making a dinner for my family tonight. Not hungry but a bit bored. Really think I am going to need to keep myself very busy in order to break the old habits. Think I will work on garage this week. Hope you all are doing well and found a way to celebrate Mothers Day as a Mother and/or a person who had one. (I think that covers everyone)
  10. Day 4 for me. Right shoulder KILLING me. Anybody try the doggie cure? Did it help?
  11. Took some advice from LAPBANDTALK.COM and slept in my bed last night instead of a recliner. I saw a few posts about how that may help with bloated feeling. IT WORKED WELL! I will have to pass that bit of advice on to my surgeon at follow up.

  13. Hi All. Day 3 and going well. Hurting a little but nothing Tylenol cant handle. Saving Vicadon for bedtime. I would say my biggest complaint is I feel very bloated but not gassy. (Wish I was) Been able to get in 30 minute walks on both day 2 and 3. Went back to work today but probably should have stayed at home. May take off tomorrow and start a long weekend. NicksWife22, Abington is just outside of Philadelphia. Do a mapquest on zip code 19001. You may want to rethink Mexico. I was self pay and my cost was around $11,800. (It was $9800 for hospital and surgeon. Waiting for anastigiologist bill). Although I feel OK now I was very uncomfortable on the day of Surgery and the next day. I mentioned to my wife as she drove me home that I could not imagine having to travel to get this done. How much does Mexico cost by the time you add in travel costs? PLus do you have to take someone with you to care for you and help you tracel home?
  14. Ha-Ha. If I had more self control I would not have let myself get to this stage. I am the typical guy though. Not always a lot to say buy gears normally keep turning. I guess my next stop will be ticker factory once I have something to report. Speaking of Ha-Ha's I have a very accurate digital scale. I weighed myself this AM before I left and again after I came home, (JUST HAD TO PEEK) I GAINED 4 POUNDS!!! That band must be made out of lead
  15. Hi All: Been laying low over the last 4 months reading all your helpful advice. Well today all your help paid off. I was banded at Abington Hospital in Pennsylvania. Due to ALL of you collective advice I was able to walk into that hospital today confident that it was the right decision. My insurance company said no go as it is excluded from my policy by my employer. (Aetna) For the price of a decent used car I have been able to start on down the road of a much higher quality of life. Six hours into it and feeling pretty good. I hope I can continue on your support and will be sure to respond to those who I can help. Not sure how to add in all those fancy statistics but I am a 50 year old man weighing in at 325. 42 BMI. Lost 60 on WW about 3 years ago but gained most (but not all) of it back. I have been battling this problem gor 40 years and am very confident that this tool will be the extra assistance I need to get the job done. Wish me luck and thanks for all your support.
  16. Looks like nobody East of Lancaster Co. I'm from Montgomery county but I am im Manheim every week for the auto auction. Live in Montgomery Co and just got my date today. 5/8/07. YaaHoooo!
  17. Once you quit smoking never touch another. No one goes from a smoker to an occasional smoker. Had my last ciggarette in 1980 and never had one since.
