So What happens.....
I was allowed eggs after my first week... seems like each dr. has different standards. I could go to mushies after a week and eggs were considered mushies. Take it slow!

FIBER
Ugh..... I really need to do something with my digestive health. I only go to the bathroom about every 4 - 5 days. I don't really feel all that constipated, I'm not uncomfortable really, but I just don't go to the bathroom. Who else has this problem and what do you do?

Exercise and Eating for Maximum Results
I work out at the gym 6 - 7 days a week. 40 min cardio, 30 min strength training. As far as diet, I count my calories and keep track of my protien. I eat 1200 - 1400 calories a day.

How much time between first and second fill?
I went 10 weeks between my 1st and 2nd fill. I did have an apointment in between there but was losing so they did not give me a fill at that point.

been thinking
That's funny, I just had a moment yesterday and I thought about being thin. Now don't get me wrong, I'll be glad but all I could think was... "I'm not gonna be me anymore" Almost got a little sad. I have been heavy since I was a child, I've had a wonderful life with wonderful friends and family and I have never let my weight effect my life or the things I did, or my career etc. (so I think ...) For a "brief" momment... I missed me. My life will definately be very, very different. Good Luck to you, this is one of the best decisions I have ever made... so glad I did it!

Blockages
I get a pain in my chest and it hurts like heck... some times it will work it's way through ( i'm guessing yours did) and sometimes it will not. I produce so much slime, and it's not saliva, it is slime, that if the blockage does not go through I will be throwing up within 5 - 10 minutes. My pouch must fill with slime than I start backing up. It does not take much to throw up when this happens. Really, no force to it at all for me. I will keep throwing up till it either comes up or goes through. I had a lot of problems with this but I made it my February goal to not get stuck... so far going pretty good. I really had to learn to eat all over again after my last fill.... makes me mad when I get something stuck cuz it is totally my own fault. My biggest problem is eating too fast... this gets me everytime. I have learned to chew pretty well, but I have to learn to SLOW DOWN! Good Luck to you!

support groups for support???
I'm 7 months out and just attened my first support group meeting a month ago. I loved it, went back the next time (meet every other week) Not many people there but it really was pretty positive and up beat. Lots of sharing with each other. Too bad you group was like it was... it could be a great support. Go again, maybe there will be some different people there next time.

worried that I will fail
You won't fail if you follow the plan/rules. I also ate all day long, Now I rarely eat between meals. I don't crave things, like chocolate, ever, and I really thought that would be hard for me. What makes it hard is if i have it in the house, so I simply don't and I do fine. I find tho if I buy even a low calorie treat, i will it one every day until it is gone (my weakness is weight watcher 80 cal. choc covered raspberry ice cream bar) I buy them once in a while, because I don't think you can completely deprive yourself, but once they are gone I don't buy them again for a while. I think the keys to this for me are definately Exercise, good food choices and water. And of course the restriction the band gives me. Good Luck to you, if I can do this... you can do it!

Cilantro-Lime Cod...Just found the recipe
I'm really tired of my food choices too, same things week after week. I just ordered a Lap Band Cookbook off of Amazon. Hope it has some "tasty" dishes in it. Good luck to you!

Bad Night
I weighed 432 pounds when I had my surgery. You do have to commit to it, but you can do it. I thought changing my ways would be way harder than it has been, of course it is different for everybody. Do it for you and only you. Good luck to you, I hope everything works out for you. Don't let anyone bring you down.

Frustrated!
It is frustrating, but I just ignore it. I eat about 1200 calories a day, I exercise 1 hr and 15 minutes 7 days a week which burns around 500 calories. My "estimated" calories burned a day is 3400. This means I have a deficit of 2200 calories a day. 3200 calorie deficit is one pound lost. I do this daily and have not lost an ounce in more than a week. One day I will step on the scale and 3 pounds will be gone overnight. I have learned to just keep doing what I'm doing. It eventually comes off. Best of luck to you!

NSV
Soooooooooooo looking forward to that too! Good for you!

10 months out....feeling hopeless
Wow... how awful. You have to see your doctor and really, really insist that there is a problem. It is simply rediculous that he doesn't listen to you. If he does not have some serious advice for you on your next visit and some actual concern/solutions for your situation I would most definately find another doctor. UNREAL! Good luck to you, keep us posted.

I'm a loser...and not in a good way
All I have to say is.... You're Worth It. You matter and you can do this, not for anyone else but yourself! Be proud of who you are and that you want to make a better life for yourself and your child. Set small goals and work toward them. As you achieve each small goal, feel proud of your accomplishments and don't let anyone or anything drag you down. I hope you find the strength to throw away those cigarettes and get back on track. Follow the rules, yes it's hard but it is so worth it, and to my experience, the lap-band works miracles if you follow the plan. Eat only when you are hungry and only till you are satisfied. (cheat once in a while just because) Really listen to your stomach, not your head, exercise and drink your water. I have found an enormous amount of will power from watching that scale go down, it really motivates me, and it will you too. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this, you can succeed, You are WORTH IT!

I have a million questions
1. How long have you had your band? 7 months (june 29 2010) 2. How much weight have you lost? 90 glorious pounds. 3. How many fills and unfills did you get until you found the "sweet spot"? 3, I have 5.2 cc's in a 10 cc band. (This will change with the more weight I lose) 4. If you stick to a particular diet (ie weight watchers, low carb, atkins, etc) which on works for you? I count my protien and calories 5. How often do you exercise? Yes, daily - 30 min cardio plus 30 min strength training. I do miss a day occassionally. 6. Does anyone do Yoga and how long did you wait until you started practicing again? Never tried it, but would like to 7. Do you ever drink alcohol? Once in a great while. Had 3 glass' of wine xmas eve, would have one or two drinks at the lake last summer once in a while. 8. What foods give you a problem? Bread, scrambled eggs, pasta. (better if I try at night, sometimes I can eat them but I pretty much don't even try any more) 9. Does your port stick out? no (not yet) not sure if it ever will. 10. How much water do you get in each day?64 - 80 oz or more. once in a while i fall short. 11. Any tips that will help on the journey? Listen to your stomach, not your head. Get to know if you are hungry or just want to eat. Drink your water and exercise. Good Luck to you!

Using the restroom
No.. I did not experience that problem. Surgery seems to do strage things to people tho. Hang in there, I'd guess it will subside. Best of luck to you on your journey!

First Month Questions??
I think it is different for everybody. I always had restirction and have never been starving. I did not get a fill at my first fill apointment because my weight loss was sufficient. I really lost a lot of weight the first couple of months. Listen to your stomach, not your head. Don't go hungry, but try not to eat just cuz you "think" you are hungry. It's a hard thing to do, I struggle with it still daily. I really have to tell my self, "are you really hungry". Most of the time the answer is no. But if I am, I eat something. Try to eat something healthy with protien. I pretty much do not snack between meals, I do struggle with a late night snack... but that is definately a head thing and not a stomach thing. Best of luck to you on your journey!

Exercise Regimen
I'm further out than that... but I didn't start exercising until 3 months out. (aside from an occassional walk) If I could do it again I'd start way earlier. It makes so much difference in your weight loss. I now go to the gym for and hour and 15 minutes 7 days a week! Much luck to you on your lap band journey!
