Beware of Tropical Smoothie!
The very last thing my surgeon said to me was "Absolutely no beverages except water, no juice, no milk, no soda. water or crystal light only, It is nothing but waisted calories, if your hungry eat something, don't drink it." (except for fill days, which I know this was for you). That has stuck with me like glue. When I hit 50 lbs lost I had a big ole glass of skim milk. Also, had a big glass of skim milk when I hit 100 lbs. LOL!!! Tasted great, I know you are not supposed to reward yourself with food... but it was milk!!! But boy, a fruit smoothie sounds yummy!

I need some serious help!
Well, I think the average calories is 1000 - 1200. I eat around 1400 and strive for 60g of protien. And you should be drinking at least 64oz of water or more.

I need some serious help!
I think maybe you are getting stuck because you are eating to fast or to big of a bite, not because your band is to tight (if you can eat large quantaties). You started exercising, that's a great start! Maybe if you started eating really healthy and did not snack between meals you could get on the right track and definately get back to the dr. They see this often I am sure, and they are the best people to help you. You just had a new baby... nobody is going to judge you! My clinic offers classes for their "banders" they are always having something. I have taken a couple and found them very helpful. I don't know if your clinic offers any or not but that might be an option for getting back on track??? Start keeping track of your food/calories/protien. I find that it really helps me to make better choices if I can see it on paper! You can do it!! And congrats on the wonderful new baby!!!

question about how much I should eat.
The size is right.... I'd say maybe 15 sec to 20 between bites. (that's what I do)

FOOD JOURNALS
I use the application on "My lap-band Journey" It is the same as Fit-Day. It tracks my calories, fittness (calories burned) fiber, protien... the works!

How do you feel if you've "irritated" your band?
Agree... food sticks more easliy and just not at all hungry. I think the only time I really irritated my band, I had something stuck, it took a long time to get it unstuck and I finally threw up very forcefully. (normally if i get something stuck i can just throw it up without much effort). I could not eat anything but mushies for a day or two and just was not hungry.

Psych Evaluation
My psyc eval was early on in the process. I only had to see her one time. I agree, just be honest. I filled out a questionaire, she looked at it, we talked for 20 minutes and I was good to go. It was a cake walk! Good luck to you!

Banded for a month and getting/having a sore throat?
Don't know why not, although I'd go with the sugar free cough drops / hard candy.

Curious, pain from stress
The pain you had in your shoulders was from the gas that they used to "blow you up" when they did the surgery, so I don't know how it could be related but stress can do strange things.

Let me introduce myself....
Welcome Curlz!!!! Good Luck on your Lap-Band Journey!

Second thoughts... again
It is different for everyone, I have trouble with bread, but if i eat really really slow and take very small bites, it goes down ok. Rice is bad for me but those are really my only two food problems, oh, and eggs, but I'm not crayz about eggs anyway! Honestly, I find more problems with how I eat, too fast, too big of bite etc., then I do with what I eat. Ultimately, you'll have to decide but I don't think your dr would tell you anything was off limits (except carbination) if you, personally can handle it. I have no problems with any meats, fruits or veggies/salad. Good luck to you.

Sleep Help....
I only slept on my stomach before surgery and now I just can't. Oddly, I can feel the band poking my sternum/ribs. Anyway, I think it is the band and it is a sharp poke! Also, I feel like I'm sufficating if I sleep on my stomach. I roll over every now and then and try it again, but I just can't do it!

Whats been the hardest thing for you to give up
WOW... that's a loaded question. pizza, Pasta, Hambugers and home made baked goods! But oddly, just now when I thought about it, I really don't miss any of it. I have fleeting moments but they pass. I will honestly say I have found healthier versions of most of these things or substitutes. (well, not sure it substitues is the right termanology) The other day tho... I really wanted a good pizza, and those skinny little cardboard substitutions just don't cut it!

I've been Approved and Scheduled, now what????
I didn't have a pre-op diet. They just wanted me to try and lose some weight before surgery, No gain or no surgery. I lost 18 pounds. Best of Luck to you!!!

1 pound to tripple digits!
Thanks! Things have gone very well for me so far!

Stuck feeling
In my experience if I drink water it instantly comes back up, sometimes this "unsticks" the food, sometimes it doesn't. The food is eventually going to go through the band or you will end up throwing up. When I get stuck I slime really bad. This either helps the food go through too or makes me throw up. I hate getting stuck. Hope it pass' quickly!
